News@lemmy.world•Electric shock gloves already in use by police departments in Bellevue, Omaha
29·15 days agoSounds like grounds for a lawsuit (against both the hospital, and whatever agency he worked for) if I were you. You were handcuffed & no danger, so that’s cruel & unusual punishment right there.
YUM
Nice sly reference to the company owning several well-known restaurant chains.
Yum! Brands, Inc. (sometimes called just Yum!) is an American multinational fast food corporation. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, the company operates KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Habit Burger & Grill, and several technology companies. Yum! is one of the world’s largest fast food restaurant companies in terms of system units. In 2016, Yum! had 43,617 restaurants, including 2,859 that were company-owned and 40,758 that were franchised, in 135 nations and territories worldwide.
2016? Guess Wikipedia hasn’t updated this one in a while.
Yes, but it’s not applied to your equipment, but rather your wallet.

10·26 days agoNo, advertisers know how to manipulate your train of thought to start thinking that way. You know how they make sure the same ads (or very similar ones with the same taglines) are seen innumerable times? That’s not only because they’re trying to be the first brand you think of when you want something in that vein, but because they’re taking advantage of the fact most people who are without prior knowledge otherwise (which is why they’re so big on targeting the young) will start to believe what the advertisers are saying is actually true – without proof – if they hear it enough.
Humans aren’t naturally very prone to critically thinking things through – our brains are still those of animals who operate on instinct & preconceived notions, which the advertisers are trying to program us with.

Uhhggg, didn’t know that. Been too long to get a lawyer to force the hospital to save video footage? In this day and age, I’d find it hard to believe they didn’t have cameras everywhere.
