My dining table (which takes up a quarter of the lounge room) is usually half covered in craft stuff and school stuff because there’s nowhere else to put it, so there’s room for a couple of people to sit at the other end. There’s also the couch, where the Minipeelers usually sit for meals. Mr P lays on his bed (in the next room) and eats dinner on a tray. It sounds weird but we are all no more than a few metres from each other. I don’t invite people over because I don’t want people to see how I live.

I was meant to have friends over last night but they cancelled and I’m glad because my kitchen looked like a bomb had gone off. It’s all better today.

Don’t be too harsh on yourself. You’re a working mum who puts her family first. You’re doing great in my book. 🙂

Thankyou! 🙂 I tell myself it won’t always be this way, and one day we will have an actual whole house to live in (or I will buy an apartment or regional home and piss off) but at the moment we’re living in a space that was built for one elderly person.

Our big table is currently hosting a lego build, towels waiting to be folded and a tub of cake decorating stuff from me decorating my mother’s birthday cake. There was still enough room for the three of us to eat dinner though.
