It never was. Even the confederates were against states [authority, they don’t have rights]. They forbid any of their member states from not allowing slavery. They went to war because Northern states were not upholding southern state slavery laws, within northern state borders.

They chant whatever is advantageous to them in the moment, hypocrisy be damned.
