A total of 12 fossil fuel and anti-renewables groups spent $1.2 million on Meta ads specifically mentioning energy.

In response just six renewable energy companies and one lobby group put ads on Meta platforms, but they spent just 1 per cent of the amount that the 12 kicked in over the same period.

There’s tables in the article showing who is spending what on Facebook ads before the Vic and NSW state elections - Australian Energy Producers, Shell, and Minerals Council of Australia (including their astroturfing subsidiary Hands Off Our Fuel) are the biggest spenders.

It’s pretty telling that the only way the anti-renewable arguments get any traction now is when attached to the “woke ideology” strawman. They have completely lost the scientific and economic arguments.

works though, look at the LNP in Qld. Shit canned the electric tram extension on the Gold Coast, to be replaced with buses, shit canned the move to electric buses and just ordered 630 diesel buses, during a diesel crisis ;)

They spent the first 12 months in Government running around like headless chickens, responding to climate change amplified weather catastrophes.

This is the best Qld has…

They don’t have a choice do they? They want more money. They make more money if they subvert democracy with a bunch of bullshit deflections and divisiveness. The sooner we remove our dependency on fossil fuels, the sooner we get back to normal politics. But the faster we move the more they are going to spend resisting.

Weirdly the thing that will finish it all is going to be the free market. The world is increasingly moving to cheaper, better products regardless of environmental legislation or fossil fuel lobbying. When the technology and manufacturing is there this stuff flips. The law of the jungle can be cruel.
