Surely it’s the game window that matters.
Mainly for the overlay. Even if some games can already run on Wayland, the steam client runs in CEF, so the overlay won’t work, and with that, other features, like hosting and joining a game via steam won’t work.
now to wait another eternity for wine to have the cross process rendering piece, and another eternity for it to get into proton, since now they just run steam itself in the runtime instead of native
