I glued a Raspberry Pi Zero with local network access (Ethernet over powerline) to the side, with a 50 cent open/close sensor attached. We were notified by a loud beep in the kitchen after 1 minute open, and by e-mail if 5 minutes, 10 minutes. I know, I should get a proper hobby.
