I know people have been sharing picture of NG to joke about how they’re predominantly brown and out of shape, and implying Govenors/NG are doing some dig at trump sending soldiers he won’t like the look of…
But that’s just an accurate representation of random NG selection.
Hell, when I was active duty about 10% of my division at any time wasn’t even citizens. And a lot higher percent was obese.
trump and Kegsworth just don’t have any idea what the military is actually like, they just go off action movies and are mad a typical soldier doesn’t look “straight out of central casting”.

Yeah, and also, while I’m still really pissed about fascist leaders trying to do fascist shit even if they’re dumb as hell about it, I seem to recall that during the height of LA protests earlier this year the NG troops were a lot less likely to be violent towards protesters than the LAPD troops because NG has a totally different culture that actually encourages deescalation and just cleaning up broken stuff (whether it got broken during a protest or natural disaster). Like, it’s completely fucked that I’m hoping one armed occupying force will make another armed occupying force act less shitty, but I think on the ground the NG’s presence might actually cause ICE goons to be less likely to shoot innocent people.
That all being said, I hope a federal judge kicks the Trump adminstration’s ass to the moon for pulling this shit.
Yeah, ICE want cops/NG to stand between them and protestors, but like in Chicago if cops/NG do t show up, ICE will shoot peaceful protestors with actual bullets.
The real test is going to be when cops/NG are there, and ICE still shoots a peaceful protestor with real bullets.
We’ll have to see which side cops/NG fall on.
If they’ll go against peaceful protestors, or arrest/detain the unidentified and masked person who just fucking shot someone
I don’t want to see it, but fuck do I want to know which way it’ll shake out…

Trump tried to mobilize CANG in California, and it was stayed. He tried to mobilize ORNG in Oregon, it was stayed, with federalism specifically called out.
When he then tried to mobilize CANG in Oregon, the judge was not amused, and said the same stay order applied.
When he then attempted to mobilize the TXNG in Oregon, the judge modified their stay order to block Trump from deploying NG in Oregon, period, without the permission of the state.
So why is he getting away with TXNG in IL?
Because their judge hasn’t blocked it yet. They gave the government time to respond to an inquiry first, which was stupid.
