Lol, most US cops pick that job because they like hurting people and now they’ll get away with almost anything.
That’s a bit of a stretch. The take the job because of the power. It makes them feel better than everyone else. The desire to specifically hurt comes later. And I am sure our education system shares some blame. The ones I remember who became cops were always looked down on. Some are just born to want power over others. The rest are made by our system. Not sure what the split would be though.
