I mean, you are technically correct, however, almost every single other thing that you can do “For fun” doesn’t heat the planet at the same rate as AI.

      That’s not true lol

I understand, but in that case, you can just say “that’s a waste of energy, breath and time” instead of asking why.

At least ai can be powered with renewables. Not the case for cars.

        Nah, it can’t.

It burns up GPUs. I don’t know if you know what GPUs are made of, but it ain’t kitten purrs and unicorn farts.

With that logic, using you car burns your car.

GPUs and cars and not consumables. It’s not something they use for a month and throw away, nor is something they don’t care if they break. They take care of the GPUs so that they las as long as possible

            Exactly.

Cars can be powered by electricity just like this stupid “AI” can and theoretically, that electricity could be generated by renewable energy sources.

Both are leaving other (non-renewable) items involved in their manufacture and maintenance out of the equation in order to equivocate for their potential as eco-friendly hobbies.

The answer is simple: neither are eco-friendly hobbies.

            😆
