Boomers are the worst ones for it though, but that means they’re guilty of hypocritical double standards…
we have some newer crossings that shine a bright red/green light onto the ground in front of the crossing, people refusing to look up from their phones is unlikely to change and at least this way they won’t walk into traffic, plus presumably it’s actually moreso for general accessibility than phone users specifically :P
I almost ran over a phone zombie that was just in the middle of the road and didn’t even hear or see me, just standing still looking down in his phone until i honked
thats really only a problem with older people. younger generations are very capable of navigating AND looking at their phone at the same time. id know, i have been doing this since i was like 16, and have only ever run into a single streetpost those 4 years

I’m just kind of surprised how many people just look straight ahead, and don’t even glance at the 4000lb thing barreling down at them.
Too many people trust that drivers are going to stop. And drivers are terrible.
People walking around buride in their phones are just, whatever to me.
But the other day i was in a big ass traffic jam. Just 3 lanes not moving. I noticed the car in front of me to the left kept moving like 2-3m back and forth, the whole time. When i moved up a bit, i saw this 40 to 50 year old lady just double fisting her phone, never looking up at all, while the cars around her just made her enough space to blindly roll around. Next to her was what i assume was her kid, headphones on vaping out of the car while never looking up from their phone. That was one of the most: “what are you guys even doing” moment i had in a long time.
Nah, I just have a death wish.
