Asked directly, I don’t think he’d have an answer. A high performance manager would be sitting in on that interview, too. I bet he’s got more important things to do. I suspect this is some kind of ploy to filter out people who can detect he’s a dickhead. Also, you’d have two people to report to? Does not sound fun.
