So, what are the best spotify alternatives that actually pay the artists? Does that exist? The only semi-viable alternative I know is Deezer. Tidal apparently is for audiophiles
im using tidal because it supposedly pays more than spotify, deezer and apple music. (also because of privacy concerns with spotify)
i’m not an audiophile and tidal works a little different to spotify, but it’s good.
just know that there’s no hand-off or remote controlling of different sessions (i.e. spotify plays through your browser and you control it from your phone), unless devices are specifically built for that (like speakers with tidal support)
I think it’s pretty much on par with Spotify. Classical recordings take a hit, not in availability, but simply because it’s more difficult to search for them. There’s also some very, very obscure music I did lose. But where talking like my second cousin once removed released something with ~2 monthly listeners level obscure.
Apart from that, depending on your experience the audio quality is perceivably better than Spotify and Tidal Connect works flawlessly. I’m on a family plan, and everyone seems to be happy. I quite like the algorithm as well, almost more than the Spotify one.
I just use YT music in brave browser on my iPhone cause it blocks all Ads and I had a app that did that for Android revanced I think, works for now, someday I’d prefer to setup my own self hosted music server and then only use YT music, Spotify etc to discover new songs

I’m ditched Spotify for Qobuz and am having a good time so far.
