I lost a lot of faith in Burns after he heavily featured some lost-cause dilettante in his Civil War series. After I saw him pictured on one of the retreats that Clarence Thomas was bribed with, I plain don’t trust his judgement about American History.
I agree that ending arms shipments to Israel is the correct action. But don’t labor under the illusion that the US can “force” Israel to do anything. I can think of numerous instances in the past where Israel defied and betrayed her patrons. And not just the US, but also the UK and the Soviet Union.
I can only think of one instance where Israel backed down due to pressure, and that was the Suez Crisis. And that took the combined influence of the US, the Soviet Union, and the UN. (as well as help from Canadian diplomats.) Not to mention that Israel was a partner of the UK and France for this adventure and thus didn’t have the final say.
