Income, sales, property, vehicle/gas and other taxes are just different ways of getting money. Different states may have one tax be pretty high, but another is low or non-existent. At the end of the day, the government will get their money somehow, and if they don’t you’ll generally find you get what you pay for.

It depends on the product. I don’t want to be served slop, designed to generate mindless clicks but if AI is secondary to something being produced by a human, for humans, I’m a little less upset about it.

Examples: SNL used an AI photo as an illustration for a weekend upstate story joke. The star of the show was the news story and the punchline to follow. The illustration helps the delivery, but isn’t the product.

I could also understand (for example) AI-generated background music when creating a video on YouTube, so long as the purpose of the video is worth a damn.

Squeezing (pressurizing) certain gases are basically how air conditioners work. Under pressure, the gases can absorb more heat (think pressure cooker - those get hotter because they raise the boiling point of water with the higher pressure). Shuffle that pressurized gas somewhere else with lower pressure, and it can no longer hold all that heat and needs to release it. Tada: heat has been moved from one location to another.

I like humans. They’re pretty neat. My friends and family are particularly awesome. The site I’ve used to interact with them (rhymes with Schmacebook) has largely pivoted to content from “people” I’ve never heard of (usually about the same few topics) and yes, AI slop. Even groups where people ask for help will inevitably have people saying “oh, I talked with the clanker about this because clearly you can’t do that and here’s what it said…”

I’ve resisted posting on Reddit, but honestly I feel like Lemmy is sorely missing social posts about people’s day to day in factor of memes and stuff. It has its place, but I’m looking for a mix of things.
