  • What’s keeping me from switching is that I switched about 12 years ago.

They said that their viewer was tested and designed to function mostly with Ubuntu and while it could work with other distros, it’s not to be expected to be smooth.

I can’t vouch for this particular software but from my experience with using Mint full time for the last 6 or so years is that regarding troubleshooting software, if a fix works on Ubuntu, it will more than likely work on Mint.

  • I don’t think regular Arch is the best for new Linux users at all but their are a few Arch based distros with graphical installers.

I’d you are trfh savvy, the Arch install process should be ok though.

Of the 2 you suggested, u would go with Kubuntu. KDE is a very popular desktop environment and Ubuntu is solid. I’ve moved distros quite a bit but always go back to Ubuntu-based. I’ve been on Mint for the last 6 or so years.

  • I was part of the reddit exodus over the 3rd party app bullshit. I saw a post from one of the bigger servers bitching about how you shouldn’t join lemmygrad or Hexbear because they are full of tankies so I made a Lemmygrad account. After Hexbear refederated I added a few of their comms and realized I jive more with their community than with Lemmygrad so I made a HB account and added a bunch of my old Lemmygrad comms to that.

I wish the hobby comms were more active. That’s really the only reason I still have my reddit account.
