Yeah I learned the hard way, I ran updates on my Debian desktop and didn’t realize the kernel failed to rebuild due to a driver not supporting the latest kernel version, well to my surprise the day after when I went to turn my desktop on and it failed to boot, I couldn’t navigate Grub to get into another kernel version or recovery.

That sucked.

People recommend what works for them, OP just got unlucky with some weirdly specific touch pad and driver troubles on a laptop, not unheard of but I suspect the manufacturer never released the drivers for Linux nor the source code so I bet Fedora / OpenSuse came up with their own solution that the other distros mentioned lacked.

I would argue and say that it is poor implementation on your developers behalf, Lemmy itself supports it, your client is failing to properly render the image.

OpenSnitch is a nice for the desktop environment, deny by default and prompts the user when an application requests a open port, at first the prompts can get a little overwhelming given how many things want to connect to xyz server but eventually lightens up.
