Looks pretty nice tbh! Probably going to stick to my current phone a few more years until it stops being updated but if I manage to break it this might just be the replacement.

(aparently my display name is too long so it’ll have to live here instead)

I’ll second Security Now!
Listened to it for years but kind of lost track when I stopped having to commute. Kind of miss it really but I don’t find as much time for podcasts these days sadly.
Yeah, the only thing I only used twitter for was getting status updates from things. Blizzard’s cusrtomer service for instance would tweet if they were having server issues and so on.
Same. I want to follow interesting topics, not individuals really.
They should’ve migrated to Lemmy and kept it going…
That’s such an important change! Awesome!
That’s something I hope the clients under development implements… auto url localization any time someone links to an external instance.
Well, hope they add it in the official web ui as well but I figure they have more pressing things to do
I can see the appeal… I just don’t like it myself. It’s so easy for it to become a measuring stick or something you actually try to boost.
For me the number of posts and comments on the profile is good enough :)
Nice job and all… but I really wish this wasn’t a thing.
Karma is something that should stay behind at Reddit imho, it just fosters karma whoring instead of actually contributing to a discussion.
That’s one of the things I liked best when I joined Lemmy, that there wasn’t a visible karma counter on people’s profiles.
Anyway… rant mode off.
Still, neat job!
You ought to have a space community!
For instance:
https://www.planetary.org/rss/articles
And a bunch of nasa related ones:
I like the idea and to be honest it’s probably better with registrations turned off so that all posts would only be from rss sources.
I’m definitely going to subscribe to a few of your communities!
hover.com is pretty nice, I’ve used them for a few years
It matters to a certain degree. Instances have different rules, cultures and political focus and some have defederated from more or fewer then others.
My best advice would be to look around. Pop in to a bunch of different instances, read through their rules, check and see who they’re federated with and the atmosphere in their loyal communities before making a decision.
Yeah, this is basically their business model/modus operandi
Same here. Still installed but I haven’t touched it since.
There are quite a few around, not just nearly as many as Lemmy instances!
Here’s a list: https://fedidb.org/software/kbin
Sounds about right!
Yeah, I can see how that centralization could be both a positive and a negative. Sounds kind of nice to have a central point to then access the more spread out nature of Lemmy for instance. But then again, it’s vulnerable instead… not sure what I prefer to be hontest.
I’m probably too new to the fediverse to have an educated opinion yet!
For me it’s mainly a nice backup for when the Xbox or TV is occupied by someone else. I don’t think I’d use it as my prime source of gaming. It works but it’s not quite as good as the actual playing on your own hardware.
