Ah, I had that one confused with the basic personal plan. 😅
Iirc SMTP and whatnot is business only for Proton, so I assume you’re sending alert emails through some other service like myself, right? I’ve been using SMTP2GO’s free tier and it works well for my very low usage needs, would love to hear more about your setup if you have any tips.
In case you haven’t stumbled upon Piper, it’s pretty great for the mouses it supports. I’ve had a good experience with the couple Logitech ones I’ve owned.
Yeah I’m with you there, vanilla helix meets basically 90% of my needs so I’m not in any real rush to change
I was going to point to visual.nvim as a possible middle ground, but it’s now archived :(
Disclaimer: I haven’t actually tested it myself
+1 for bazzite, if I wasn’t a NixOS cultist it’s probably what I’d still be daily driving. Stable, easy rollbacks, keeps itself updated as long as you reboot now and then. Just a great experience all around.
Atomic distros are still distros, you’ll notice op never excluded that particular kind
Damn, I didn’t even realize that was doable lol. At least the nix part, the rest definitely sounds like stuff I might’ve accidentally done myself while learning the ropes.
Maybe consider a Hetzner storage box. They support borg, restic, rsync and probably more, there’s no ingress or egress fees and you get unlimited traffic. Very nice for off-site backups if, like myself, you’re on a limited budget.
Lol my workplace ships Angular in debug mode. Don’t worry though, the whole page kills itself if a dubious third-party library detects the console is open. Very secure and not brittle at all! Please send help
It says a lot that when I read that my first thought was “oh so like keeping the self hosted services running and whatnot” for a second 😅
Gotcha, that’s totally fair. Thanks for elaborating!
FWIW Proton does offer a mail only plan that’s $5/month, 4 if you go for yearly
Oof that’s scary. Good thing I have a decent enough return window to at least make sure stuff like that isn’t the case, at least.
Great points, I’ll definitely keep an eye on the 10! Should fit in nicely within the time I’ll be due an upgrade, give or take.
Ah, that’s a nice way to go about it! I’d have loved to inspect mine beforehand as well but the only real way to grab one around here is importing yourself and paying 60%+ import fees on the damn thing or purchasing a preowned one. My living in a remote area also means there are none close by.
Perhaps consider DivestOS as well if it’s supported, seems to be a way tidier package when it comes to security and privacy.
Thanks for the tips, I’m a happy Aegis user already! Thankfully, my main bank explicitly doesn’t care about custom roms and I’m thinking I’ll just cut ties with the ones who do and let them know that was the reason at this point. Worst case scenario, I still have my locked down old phone.
Laughed out loud at your 💀 here lol, now that’s a perfectly executed self jab
