A network broadcast is meant to be received by all the computers on a LAN, but the message is still limited in scope. There were Gregg books, magazines, and cartoons at one time. Then it all just vanished.

I know this niche script that’s over 100 years old. Several other people know it too, but we don’t talk to each other in it. We don’t pass correspondence. We don’t check on each other, or tell each other about our lives. We’re completely cut off, in a world more connected than ever.

I use it for my own shopping lists.

I think it has the potential to build a modern subculture, facilitating hobby discussions, news, and build personal interactions.

I was sequestered indoors my entire life. My parents lived in the middle of nowhere, and wouldn’t help me get away from home – tried to get my license several times. I wasn’t allowed to go to other people’s houses. People weren’t allowed to come over – they could be bad influences. My first snowman was at 28 years old. I tried to go to college and they disconnected the Internet mid-semester, because it was Satanic.

School was a battleground of guys terrified to be anywhere near me.

Every time I try and find male friends, it always ends in me not being manly enough. And it’s rattled me to my core. I literally can’t be around men anymore, despite doing numerous home and auto repairs growing up. Wiring shit together, etc. It always ends the same. I’ve always wanted guy friends. I just can’t try anymore.

Which is the reason for the question. Why are grown-ass men afraid of people not being manly enough?

Well, I mean. . . from the outside. . . It appears to create a ladder of self-worth, enabling someone to validate themselves above others for appearing not to conform to the group. While also ensuring your own compliance, by allowing the ladder to collapse in under you.

Edit: The question is, what are they complying with?

I think that answer only carries so much weight: racists aren’t afraid of becoming black.

I absolutely detest SQL. I will probably go to my deathbed having never typed a line of SQL in my life. I don’t know why I hate it as much as I do, but I refuse to learn it – my brain won’t let me.

I’ve programmed in C, C++, Python, BASIC, JavaScript, Assembly, etc. I wrote CGIs for Apache in all these languages, so I didn’t have to touch PHP. Every time I get near SQL or PHP, I start wanting to pull my hair out.

When did Mongo go proprietary?

Edit: I’m actually wanting to make my entire project open source. MongoDB’s current license, requiring all infrastructure to be open, might actually be for me.

The only issue here is whether I should be able to login to an unmoderated server with a moderated server’s account, I believe I should. Since the only content a moderator truly controls is what comes across their own server either way.
