It’s visually striking (if you don’t look too closely), the 1st bonus image is best but I’d still go with a more minimal style. That and aside from hallucination, I would prefer live-rendered polygons. Infinite scalability is the point.

Here’s something I made a while ago, animated eye (note: on my end, Imgur links don’t work unless viewed in private mode for whatever reason) though a full game with that style is not currently viable for me for multiple reasons (the feature is 4.X only and still an unmerged PR that may not perform well enough for common use, no Nim-lang bindings yet in 4.X).

I was confused at first, that style of 3D polygonal isn’t really uncommon. I don’t really buy things (esp not $30 level) and I need a hobby so that’s a part of it too*. For 3D art I’ve done, one of my threads is federated to your instance. Here’s the stuff that didn’t (these have no textures, only vertex colors):

*= I mean I have seen some games that have a nice aesthetic, even better if they’re more “real” with it (though that is what’s hard to find)

The problem is that they overlap, usually all 3 interlocked. The threads/microblogs I’ve tried barely get responses (again, federation may be an issue), let alone even answers for even something like Blender. I can use Nim w/o art but I don’t have the ideas for it usually (or if I do other issues happen, including just lacking the desire to write for something like a game book).

I’ve mostly waited for something to improve, but a while ago I started my own simple polygon loader/format and I worked a bit more on that today. I think I made one of my own questions irrelevant (assuming my condition to detect strip vs. fan is correct) and added a couple of other improvements. I don’t think it’s at a point I’d share it, but I probably could (should) try to make a simple game with it soon.

Though I’d rather have 3D in Raylib (vertex colors not working with Nim bindings, Naylib) or more advanced 2D in Godot 4 (no Nim-lang bindings, and said feature is an unmerged PR that may not be performant enough for full game art).

My niche interests.

• Nim-lang (this has some activity here, though I often have federation issues)
• Raylib
• low-poly+untextured polygonal art and vertex colors (both 2D and 3D)

I don’t really consider myself an artist or a programmer (I haven’t done much), maybe there’s a fediverse instance that could work for me but it’s probably too niche even just with those communities.

I want to use Raylib, but mentioning it here on the fediverse doesn’t get much of a response (I can’t see a raylib community from my instance). My choice of language probably doesn’t help, though.

My first issue is wanting vertex colors on 3D models and I am not getting this (this may be a problem with the bindings I’m using, naylib(nim-lang)). The second would be needing guidance for the 2D polygon text loader that I started.

Maybe I could make simple GUI applications with raygui, but I don’t currently really have many viable ideas on what I would want to make.

To OP: Another potential option is using Godot w/bindings. Design is pretty fast and flexible, then using signals is super easy.

I’ve tested some frameworks (specific to my language, so not really helpful to most), the one that I liked more said it was declarative user interface framework based on GTK though I would prefer a similar thing for Qt and there wasn’t an ability to automatically scale text size to better fill the available button size (I was testing an adventure-book reader and hoping to use unicode characters).

Frameworks for single page applications (or some other browser-based tech) might be ok for simple stuff. Similarly, I’ve liked the idea of TUI frameworks (yeah, because htop) but haven’t really tried that yet.

My napkin guess is that this is some sort of specific process/tactic, either it only allows 1 2 levels of reclassification at a time or that was all that could be agreed on (with multiple agencies, likely the DEA limiting the pace). So either avoiding the Senate or the tiniest of steps that pretty much anybody will allow/defend. Slow-and-steady could be the plan, assuming Biden wins again and actually follows up.

Well that and it probably really helps with the turning-a-blind-eye, like the difference between ignoring/acquitting a hit-and-run fender-bender versus ignoring/acquitting the act of treating a no-traffic intersection (in clear conditions) like a 4-way stop. Maybe it will be enough to reduce hostility and move the relevant overton window over time while avoiding pushback.

EDIT: Looking at it more, this seems to be the department of HHS pressuring the DEA on clear medical use. As others say, the lower restriction might help further medical study which could in-turn result in further reclassification.

My thought as well, the video Tom Scott did on the mountain town that has bespoke electric vehicles (and strict usage on them for needed business) comes to mind (R2oD1ZHNMFE). I don’t know how much is law and how much is companies not caring to cater to that market (even with designs that they sell in Europe), but Kei-like vehicles can still be affordable without being fully unsafe (but the issue of safety is more about the market making larger-and-larger trucks and SUVs, and lack of viable car alternatives paired with high speed limits).

Higher cost really is not a fix. Other concerns like privacy seem like policy could mesh well with low-end (no internet connection, just-a-radio, common off-the-shelf parts, standards+no DRM etc). It would be nice for the option to exist in this space that US car companies are not trying to fill anyway.

I think a better example probably would just be the night sky (at least in places with non-optimal conditions). Where I’m at there is very little color even when it’s clear enough to see galactic features (interstellar cloud/nebulae, clusters of dimmer stars etc).

Couldn’t hard water be described an issue of natural minerals being “not water soluble”? It’s still going to be floating in the water, and I assume that hard water is a problem of excess and thus could be managed better. Maybe even the nano form, assuming that passes the safety checks (and guidelines for safe/effective concentrations can be established).

I’ve heard fluoride builds up in your bones so it’s one of those negative health effects that’s hard to study

I mentioned it in a top-level comment, but there is hydroxyapatite that would likely be a better water additive (and increases effectiveness of fluoride toothpaste) and would probably also be good for bone health rather than a potential long-term risk.

I am once again saying: Why not hydroxyapitite? A form of calcium, same as our teeth/bones. It even has water management uses because it adsorbs other stuff like fluoride and lead, which actually makes finding info about its addition to water for the purpose of teeth health difficult.

Though it seems like hydroxyapatite water would also make fluoride toothpaste even more effective.

I just checked, apparently we have a ~16 gallon can (15 7/8ths*) and use 33gal bags. It doesn’t seem that much bigger (bc volume) but an overfilled bag will still have room in it when removed (it’s useful for last-minute additions on garbage day).

I don’t know if you need to go this far, but maybe it is why they still fit the can properly with the not-expected-fit orientation like I described to prevent overfilling. 30gal might work, I guess it seems there isn’t much choice here though (otherwise I’d say try 5-10gal/~20% higher rather than double).

In my house we have slightly oversized trashbags, have the bag oriented the other way (so when you pull the bag out it does not get stuck*), make sure the drawstring is over the lip, and this depends on the design of your trash-can but just see the picture. Image link for non-Kbin.

*= this is specific to a larger bag in a tapered container. If the orientation matches closely, lifting causes it to expand at the bottom when you lift so you’re only lifting the bag at first (also this allows it to get stuck when it’s overfilled). Rotated the other way it cannot expand fully until it is out of the container.

I’ve only used Kbin, but it seems fairly decent as a commenter aside from some federation/stability/spam issues. I really like the idea of having access to the Mastodon side of things on top of the rest of the fediverse, even though it’s hit-or-miss.

Thread wise, I suppose I haven’t posted enough to be statistically solid though it seems like it’s dead on the Kbin side of things and federation is even worse. I’ve thought about posting to lemmy.world (because 1 of my threads to a kbin community just got 2 LW commenters) but haven’t made new content to do so.

I probably should join another instance but I think there is a balancing act between instance popularity and desiring conversation-of/help-with my niche interests, and it seems like that is one probably isn’t going to be resolved for a while.

My point is, going by the language in what you linked, the manufacturer you went with sells neither electronic devices nor devices that facilitate the use of any liquids/oils. So it does seem like their dumb policy/cautiousness not them being forced, though I am not a lawyer. Even being strict, if there was a device they sold that fell under the law I think it’d be the torches, as you said if someone has a lighter and material+paper or anything else that’s all that’s needed for smoking.

I was pointing out another manufacturer (quite popular/known and they only do electronic stuff, but AFAIK nothing for liquid/oils) and they have not bothered with this policy at all. They do allow the customer to request a signature check, but that’s all I see.

I saw that after posting. I’m not sure if the shipping law depends on the product but I got an Extreme Q from Arizer years ago and just checked: there is no mention of a required signature (though being a desktop unit and twice the price, it is a different product).

So maybe you could’ve just bought from somewhere else, assuming this is the seller being overly cautious and not a wide-sweeping law.

I mean if the temperature is set low enough (also convection) it should prevent combustion(/harmful byproducts) for most materials. Like under 200C especially.

Although I’m not sure vaporizing tobacco intended for smoking would taste all that great and smokers generally don’t seem to care anyway. Sounds gross to me, then again so does nicotine in general.

I could see it in the specific case of a cheap (steam) vape pen purchased without debit/bank card off of a general store site. They check the mail and pocket it, get vape juice from somebody. Charge+fill and it’s ready in a pocket or backpack etc. Similar for concentrates, portable dry vaporizers (or something like dynavap) maybe a bit less.

A $100+ desktop dry vaporizer purchased from a dedicated website seems like it’d be harder to hide unless parents are really inattentive. Miss the credit/debit record, miss the delivery at the door, then them carrying it in (+branded boxes), a dedicated spot in their room where it’s plugged in, and an almost ritual to properly heat up the glass/material that might give it away (glass clinking, balloon bag filling, fan on/off etc).

I meant newer than the context I stated (1983). And also ground floor stuff that doesn’t need internet (after install) and doesn’t need a purchase/sign-up. Available by default or not too obscure to get decent voices.

There might be some half-decent voices somewhere, but it really just doesn’t seem like it’s night-and-day for the ground floor stuff from what I’ve seen. Maybe some vocaloid stuff but even that seems like a chore to do the phonemes manually to get expected pronunciation.

Yeah, in my opinion this sounds worse than DECtalk from all the way back in 1983 (for instance, Perfect Paul). Or MacinTalk (see its usage in Whatever Happened to Robot Jones, particularly the original version).

The newer stuff often tries to sound less robotic but then if it doesn’t have the complexity to sound realistic it just sounds worse, harder to understand and yet also sounding uglier… warbly.
