Anyone with a federal appellate ruling can appeal to the supreme court. That appeal is just a request. The supreme court refuses the vast majority of them.
All this says about the country is that one horrible woman can afford a lawyer, and refuses to take no for an answer.

These are amounts that stocks often fluctuate. Percentages are what matter. Phrasing it as a big dollar value was lost is always manipulative framing.
The market is big. There are more than a few shares. A small change becomes a big number when multiplied by the size of the entire market. $800 billion is basically meaningless.
The numbers are fake anyway. Market cap is the value if all existing shares were sold at the current price. Nonsense. Selling all the shares would change the price in some way.

Education varies because of state and local governments. Having a kid in private school is not innately unreasonable.

He wants his daughter to get a good education. As an air traffic controller, he surely knows the value of education because he works a job that takes a lot of education and training to get into. Public schools in the united states are very bad, and underfunded. Private middle and high schools are common in cities and are usually much better than the public schools. Its a good choice for anyone with the means, which he had every other month this year.
Racism is systemic. It is behind the right wing policies that constantly underfund education. It is rarely the driver of individuals. Individual’s decisions are shaped by the options available more than anything else. Sending his daughter to a private school is the best choice for a father in his position. Hold your ire for those in positions of power.

You’re right. The US already has the solution under the NLRB. If a union contract cannot be negotiated by the deadline, the old one remains in effect.
A proper government could do that, but I prefer kicking everyone out and starting anew.
This is how it’s always worked.
If members of congress were not paid, the richer members could use a shutdown to coerce the poorer members, knowing that they have enough saving to survive the payment stop longer than poorer members. In a government where shutdowns are possible, continuing to pay representatives is necessary.
In a proper country, a shutdown would result in an immediate recall and disbarment of every elected official. But we don’t live in a proper country.
Continuing to pay those responsible for the shutdown is a bad thing. Punishing every other government worker for someone else’s ineptitude is bad. But on balance not paying congress would probably be just a bit worse.

No. Its fine to have mismatched data between state and federal. The feds trust their own databases unless you provide them contradictory information.
At least from my reading about my state its not an issue. However it is an issue if federal records don’t match other federal records. Don’t change the gender on your passport without changing it with social security, but also you can’t they’re refusing changes. If the feds get contradictory information it will flag their databases and send you a notice. You’ll need a lawyer if that happens.
Research it yourself, your state may vary, but I have not yet had any issues.
