I have a feeling USB drives will be readable for a long time to come
The drives may still be useful, but the data will long be gone. I have a flash drive from 06 that was last used in like 08 09 and most of it’s data was gone by 2019. The drive itself is fine. But what was on it has slowly faded away.
It varied by manufacturer.
Some turbo = fast others turbo = slow.
Independent garages will have to adapt. Battery swaps/rebuilds will become more and more of a thing. Same with repairing all of the computers in these vehicles. Basically all EVs for sale are iPhones on wheels, and that tech does not age gracefully. (just look at the early Model S)
Currently shops of typically filled with “boomer” techs who just blindly hate technology and won’t touch it. But its adapt or die. And battery swaps on non Tesla EVs are typically really easy to do. Tesla being Tesla purposefully makes it difficult to do.
Someone should tell them they may get more business from EVs.
Outside of the pandemic, car dealers generally don’t make much money on new cars. Used cars and service is the money maker.
Looking at about 57k new cars in our system the average profit based on cost - price is -1,300. And that’s not factoring in other costs like paying the sales people their commission.
Apple was popular in academia even before Mac OS.
The Apple II was gaining a lot of popularity with colleges before the Mac even came out. And by the time System 7 was renamed to Mac OS 7 in the mid 90s Apple had gone HARD on getting Macs (and until the 90s Apple IIs) into all schools levels.

I would do it without her word. Drug tests like these aren’t accurate enough, and the police aren’t smart enough to handle this appropriately. I have helped numerous people pass drug tests.
Is my one life really more important than multiple other peoples?
The choice is between separating a mother from a new born child and not separating her. The mother is now childless, and the child will probably end up in our horrific adoption system. Maybe they will find a loving parent, or maybe they’ll end up loveless. The choice should be easy to make.
I’m not saying lie on all tests. Just on ones where the moral boundaries are incredibly clear.

Most of these newer cars are more efficient, and very importantly, actually have functional emissions control systems. I bet half the cars I see in Costa Rica don’t even have catalytic converters. Assuming that they even had them in the first place.
It’s at least the same inconsistent toolset as everyone else. Windows 10? Ok go through this multi step process. 11? Ok this other slightly different process.
VS Linux you have 700 consistent toolsets, and 70000000 inconsistent toolsets.
Chromebooks never really made sense outside of schools and old people.
The OS is hyper limited to essentially just a web browser, and android apps (so just a web browser). Nobody wants to buy premium hardware to use with just Chrome. But at the same time it’s Chrome, so you really need at least a good chunk of RAM. So it really just limits you to the super light use cases, but those could realistically be replaced by a tablet.
The other day we saw an extremely odd device at malwart. They had a $270 laptop/tablet hybrid thing with a fairly nice OLED display, and a snapdragon CPU that should have been more that sufficient. But 128gb of EMMC storage, and 4 gigs of ram. Such wasted potential. It would make a nice RDP machine I guess.
If it has digital temperature control then it has something resembling a CPU and memory. If it’s analog then it’s probably just not that accurate and will drift over time without manual calibration.
I have a pinecil and direct heat soldering irons blow away non direct heat irons like your weller (and I think this ifixit one). Once you switch you never want to go back. Which is really disappointing because I don’t think this new ifix it one is.
