Unfortunately yeah, these things still happen with Linux. I love linux, and I don’t use Windows, but all the “Linux never does anything wrong”, or “works on my machine, it must be a skill issue” people don’t realize how much that prevents people from moving over.

Linux is a looooooot better than it used to be, but pretending that problems don’t exist, is how Linux, and the culture surrounding it, got such a bad reputaion for such a long time.

Life is Strange

The entire premise is that the protagonist can turn back time, and make different decisions.

Except for cut-scenes. As soon as a cut-scene hits, suddenly its “You aren’t able to rewind time right now”, with no narrative explanation. Like, I get that you didn’t want to program that part, but the entire premise is about rewinding time, to try different decisions. Now I’m stuck having made an arbitrary decision, because I thought I was going to be able to go back and pick differently.

It was… interesting, but going for more “shock”, than actual substance.

It’s a fun movie, but it’s only for a selective taste. It’s also has a lot of very problematic scenes.

That’s how the vast majority of software has been built for the past couple of decades. LLM’s aren’t different in that regard, just faster.

I do enjoy programming, but I prefer “getting stuff done”. While I enjoy programming, I’d rather just get it done and move on. I like the results of having programmed.

Productivity is my problem, because I build stuff for myself, not just for my boss.

All the higher mammals learn by playing, by doing, by interacting. And indeed, the higher the mammal, the more of its life it spends in play to prepare itself for adulthood. So you can see, this active role of the mind is fundamental to the way we think. It’s wired into our brains.

I don’t think they were “surprised” by it. It seems like they thought it was a search result. Which is fair, IMO. If DDG didn’t want people to mistake that for a search result, then they shouldn’t put it in the spot where the search results go.
