So, what you are saying is that you didn’t see them being summoned, just that the despawn takes a couple of hours. That makes sense otherwise it would be too op.

Technology@lemmy.world•It just keeps getting worse - Firefox to "evolve into a modern AI browser"English
41·5 days agoI don’t know if that is the reason but I wonder if the recent ruling that made Firefox loose on the cash income from Google as a default search engine has them doing a similar type of deal with AI companies, even Google, like, Firefox has a built-in interface for AI and the backend you can choose but the default one is one that some AI company pay a fee to be.
If that is the case I think it is fine, it is like a wink-wink situation, you have to have it enabled by default and with a default provider for it to be worth something for someone to pay for the privilege, and then the users can simply change it be gone with it without affecting the payout. (Unless the pay or renew pay has some metric like use statistics)
The best part is that it shows that they don’t have a clue. If you are “forking” a project to change it language is not a fork is a rewrite. It would be one thing if they were adding rust to an already existing project, but as far as I can tell the project is full rust from the beginning.
How parsing (as in programming languages and commands) works is so interesting and is so hard for people to grasp and is really interesting to see how what you think is obvious is not for most people. I saw it all the time when teaching cs102. It is so hard to explain the difference that a blank space makes and why sometimes it is necessary and why sometimes it is not.
That is all to say I find it really interesting and funny when OP says double pipe, because of course it looks like double pipe, you gonna tell me That

161·7 days agoYou may already know that, but just to make it clear for other readers: It is impossible for an LLM to behave like described. What an LLM algorithm does is generate stuff, It does not search, It does not sort, It only make stuff up. There is not that can be done about it, because LLM is a specific type of algorithm, and that is what the program do. Sure you can train it with good quality data and only real cases and such, but it will still make stuff up based on mixing all the training data together. The same mechanism that make it “find” relationships between the data it is trained on is the one that will generate nonsense.

Programming@programming.dev•How good engineers write bad code at big companies
18·22 days agoAlso there is this far too common thing that experts in one field suddenly think they are experts in everything. I saw some of the most absurd takes from engineers, how this person can be so smart and so dumb at the same time? I think they get hyper confident in their own “gut feeling” which in their field is supported by years of experience and all the knowledge in the world but in other fields it is just their anecdotal experience and bias.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•You can choose 1 superpower, but the first reply is the side effect. What superpower would you choose?
3·1 month agoWhen I first started playing Ragnarok Online, there was this one item, aí believe it was something like bat wings, that was really valuable and when you used you would teleport to a random place in the same map/sections. I thought it was a shit item, but soon enough I understood that its power was to run away from problems when you are low on health.
So I think it still is a good power.

News@lemmy.world•‘A classic authoritarian tactic’: outrage over Trump’s pardons for friends and allies
3·1 month agoSo it needed some checks and boundaries, like only be available if a petition is signed by enough people or the Congress has to sign on it. Or has a limited number. Something. This US doing or not something because of tradition or something obviously does not work
That is true. I also was luck enough to have a friend that didn’t mind at all to pick me up out of his way even if just as a companion to do errands and stuff. Otherwise the distance would be a problem.
That is so true. It is like a silver lining. I may be procrastinating but I am helping and spending some quality time with a friend.
I love this type of bonding with friends and used to do it a lot. The problem is you have to live or be kinda close by, but I guess that is true for any less formal meetup. I guess the furthest away you are the more “a thing” the meetup must be and the duration longer.
In any case I love do errands with friends and even go help out with something. Even though I don’t have time and energy for my stuff I feel like energy for hanging out with friends doing errands como from a different bucket.
I think the person is not implying that by going with the person doing an errand you also have to spend money. You are going as a companion.
He has a number of good movies. I guess because the most popular means visible movies are his slop comides for the whole family his “real” movies kinda goes under the radar.
Uncut gems is a masterpiece but I wanna mention Spaceman because it is fantastic. It is kinda the opposite of Uncut gems, if the first is like fast pace on the edge of you seat that you spend the whole movie holding your breath that shit is about to hit the fan, Spaceman is super slow and introspective, big great nonetheless.
