It’s not hard to make a useful website that’s small. You just have to avoid using javascript libraries and keep images to a minimum. There are a number of static web page generators if you don’t want to write HTML yourself.
Keep in mind that a 50 kB page is about a 15 second load on a typical dial-up connection. Before high speed internet, almost everyone kept their web pages small.

That depends on what you are running on it. The Pi 5 will be one of the most energy efficient options, but it’s limited to USB and PCIe 2.0 x1 with an adapter for storage.
I never had one, I always thought the subscription fee was a ripoff. High speed internet and bittorrent pretty much eliminated the need for one anyways.


It’s a known issue. They are working on a fix, but it’s not ready yet. It will require an external JavaScript library though.
I would use point to point wireless links between the buildings. Then connect an access point to the link to provide WiFi to the building. Something like the Omada EAP211 should work well for the link.
