Most Windows Programs running with root access is like, I don’t know… Windows XP era maybe?
is the history of the values available after restart? like the graphs shown when you click a sensor entity?
recorder is enabled by default. however, when you are using docker it might be possible that the default file data base (it’s folder) is not mapped to a persistent location outside the container (resp. in the host file system).
however, I really do not know much about all this docker related stuff. my recorder suggestion was just a shot into the blue. if I would be facing this problem I might just try to set up a relational data base like MySQL or PostgreSQL as a target for the recorder.
Restoring the states depends on the recorder. What are your settings regarding the recorder?
Edit: reference https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/recorder/
ahh yes, hydrogen. They are standing all around at the dealers waiting to be bought. hm? what? you mean Mercedes did still not manage to fulfill the promise of like 2003 of hydrogen car series in 2023?
I know what you are saying and I also like the idea, but BEV are much less complicated and way more adult yet.
Why not both though? and add phev in the mix?
I know it’s different, but if I wouldn’t know home assistant I could have assumed it had something to do with USB
Ok so that dude says that musk did positive things (which is debatable but that’s not the point). People vote him down and he is pissed of by this. So he brings that ppl will downvote him, because people generally dislike Elon Musk anyway.
As Germany had to deal with the Nazis a lot of people were subjected to massive propaganda as the Nazis basically controlled all the public information sphere. So what happened was that many/some people read in the newspapers about positive aspects of the Nazi/Hitler rule and they believed.
They later learned (when the 3rd Reich collapsed and the war ended) what a mess the Nazis left behind with millions of deaths and eradicated families. Many people still of course knew what happened but we’re subject to repression or just went along with it. Propaganda still leaves an impression especially considering that many young people back then grew up wrapped in dense propaganda.
Now the analogy is that there were probably positive aspects of the Nazi Regime for some people. Since after the war there is a stereotype about people in discussions about the time saying “yeah, but not everything was bad!”. They might list things like that “Hitler” (the government) build Autobahns (which were invented earlier anyway) or hospitals or something else. Just like a government should care about its people. These people are correctly being punched in the face for saying this, as we all know that in the background the Nazis made half of Europe suffer from their ideology.
The punch in the face would be a downvote here, as Musk is not to be idolized as he is just a manchild with too much money and he does not care about humanity or humankind.
To be honest having an information about the actual percentage state of opening is actually useless anyway. I just need the information if it’s properly closed which could be achieved with a simple reed relay.
Having the sensor on the moving parts also comes with other challenges anyway. I used a cheap curly telephone cord to connect the sensor to the ESP8266 but it’s actually already worn out and thus hanging low when the door is open, as the normal state is that it is extended when the door closed
I did not say he is being Hitler. He is just listing some positive aspects and wonders why he gets down voted. It’s just the same procedure, not the a comparison of Musk to Hitler. Both have fanboys and they just have to deal with the public opinion of the guy. It’s not really a surprise about the downvotes, right?
I installed an ultrasonic Sensor at the lowest segment of the garage door. It mostly does it’s job, though it is unreliable when the door is fully open, as the sensor tilts towards the open end and the distance is then too long. Also someone standing in the opening might block the sensor.
Yes, that’s because it is similar to saying “Yeah, but not everything Adolf Hitler has done was bad!”.

For Germany, though it was big but not “too long”
King Mansu Musa was incredibly rich and when he went on hajj to mecca he spent much of his gold in Egypt causing a massive inflation. On his way back to Mali this has caused him needing to spend much more this time on his route through Egypt which is why he needed loans from merchants.
Dunno if this could be considered a big loss?
How is battery life in this cold environment?
The second is for workers that receive cash tips.
Fucking braindead…
Yeah in like 2010 or 2012 I discovered an old laptop with windows 98 on it. I put it in network and went to a rather known website which delivered warez (cracks) with old internet explorer to experiment and just by loading the page you could tell this windows installation was gone. IIRC correctly the screen was instantly flooded with windows message boxes and shit. I anticipated and unplugged the Ethernet cable in like 2 seconds. Laptop froze and never booted up again.
Honestly if they are not that technical, I’d with the nearly fool proof solutions of QNAP and Synology and alike. It is very easy to maintain. I think e.g. Synology still provides updates for their 2012-2013 generation devices, hardware limitations apply whatsoever.
Surely you get less Hardware/Dollar but the software is near fool proof. I recommended such devices to two of my half technical friends and granted mutual space for encrypted off-site Backups and it just works flawlessly. If they would have me setup any self made raspberry pi like solution and anything goes wrong with their data I’d rather not stand in their line of sight.
