Maybe, just maybe, Comcast should have spent all those government subsidies to update its infrastructure to full fiber and not bullshit like packet shaping, inspection and throttling to improve its bottom line and stop customers from using to the fullest extent the very thing we were paying for.

Before I moved, the local government subsidized fiber came into my neighborhood in 6 months (I was pretty far out there in the burbs) and I had 4gbit fiber for $80 a month compared to the forced triple play package I was locked into so I could have the fastest speed from Comcast (800mbit/30mbit) for astounding $350 a month. Top that off, I had a data cap I nearly exceeded monthly of 1tb and that cost and additional $50 for “unlimited“.

So good riddance Comcast/xfinity.

I think my message was more or less, stop worrying about the price of the pitchforks. Just take them because if don’t fix this soon, history will see this as the time we failed to rise up against fascists because we couldn’t afford pitchforks as an excuse.

I’ve walked out of interviews that had these popular puzzle questions in the 00s. The company you’re interviewing for is not testing you for your job, it wants a corporate drone that is ok with bureaucracy and can navigate the red tape they’ve put in place.

Really a waste of time, but if I run into this at my age now I ask if they can tell me how their company is making something for the betterment of human kind.

Capitalism… At some point people need to realize they are working to make others richer. From the products you buy to the products your company makes, just stuff designed to break and not worth spending on. Even new houses today have a shortened life. Anyone buy one recently and see the contract term estimated life of the house is about 60years?!? Yep folks, the house you’re dropping 500k+ on it expected to last about 60 years.

Yeah. Dealing with this as we speak. I’m friendly, get the job done, money where my mouth is “work ethic”. I’m not an asshole. But I did get hired for my role over an internal employee. An employee with sway, and has actively used that sway to secretly disparage me and the work I was doing. If he likes you, golden. Promotions, new friends groups, the works. But if he doesn’t, you’re done.

He’s managed to get me fired (next Monday) and yesterday came out gloating on a call with just me to let me know. This truth being verified by a 2 week payslip direct deposit pending on Monday (payday was today). My “crime”? Getting the work done he felt wasn’t “the right work”. He said, “I could have forgiven you taking my job I wanted, but you chose to ignore my project work I wanted done and implement things we don’t need (with list)”. I was hired to do just that, but I guess it wasn’t enough or the right thing. I’ll find out “why” (or how) I’m being fired Monday.

Politics is insane in enterprise. They’ll spend millions on consultants to get work done. One person with power can sabotage another out of pure spite. They have no interest in progress, they just want the status quo where they’re on top. Or an employee who just wants to get the work done without more effort to do it right.

On more positive news, I was already interviewing elsewhere. Final interviews today on one. Next place I’ll just play the game better.

Just had a conversation with someone on this last weekend. They’re what I call someone dependent on corporate daycare. They need to be working or they lack self value. Their boss is an ass, hardly works and this guy thinks he’s slacking at 12 hours a day (exaggerated only a little).

What are you doing that is so important? Is it saving someone’s life? Life changing cancer drugs? No no, it’s a PowerPoint that shows the progress on the projects of equally less important tasks that is only making your boss look good.

And the fucker still thinks he’s not WORKING HARD ENOUGH!!

It shouldn’t be all that difficult to get this done, but it was. As a male in my 30s living in Texass, you would have thought I was asking them to murder someone. I had my 3 children, which was 3 more than I ever wanted. I love them, but I never wanted kids. And my doctor tells me I’m too young to stop. Legit 60 days I had to wait to “prove” I was still intending to get unreversible (at the time) surgery.
