  • She*, and she stole a real (straight, married, with children) man’s identity to use as hypothetical. The whole thing should be absolutely thrown out by a higher court - the court of the people.

Also, what happens if a scotus judge is assassinated? Like for real, what if a terrorist straight up murders one? If it’s the president, the vice president takes over, and if them… There’s like a power list for that. But, what about a scotus? Does the standing president just get to pick one again? Or is there a list of rank? Or is it like monarchy where the judge has a written will or a say over who replaces them? Goddamn; why do we even have this shitty system.

  • Ehh… There’s definitely change that occurs (look at porn free people vs porn heavy people), and a risk of total destruction. But I feel like a lot of this stance IS prudish slippery-slope rhetoric and fear mongering.

Regardless, we could debate on the effects and philosophy of porn for a long time, there’s value and reality supporting all sides on this one, but I do agree we need to be careful about it and have it serve everybody, regardless of belief. This would require a lot of development to have (let’s say, pro porners and anti porners, just for sake of argument) pro and anti people both have minimal pain points whilst also growing a decentralized future with great accessibility and great data redundancy and great safety.

  • Because people really don’t want to lose the time and investment they’ve put into building these huge communities.

It’s like if the king just decides that your really healthy neighborhood and community, that you’re a community leader in and are constantly defending against the shittiest companies and groups dumping garbage all over and ruining and harassing the residents (and whatever the equivalent to blocking posters of illegal things is), will suddenly charge you an extreme amount of money to do your volunteer job, and the clubhouse leaders/owners and other businesses an insane amount of money just to use the land (because the king wants that land to put up billboards instead) - because he wasn’t making enough money on them before, but only because he wasn’t charging them any money. And in reality, the king wants to sell the kingdom to China for several billion dollars and just wants to show how much money can be made from the billboards instead of the businesses and community centers.

Man. Fuck u/spez. Outcast that mofo rather than the platform. I wish somebody would just coup his ass, but everybody in his sort of position just always ruins it. Always. So it’s the system, not solely him; it’s the goal of… Internet Platforms. It’s literally the same problem with government anywhere: if you have a monarchy, eventually, they’ll do shitty stuff and eventually try to ruin it.

    What’s the solution?

Let’s be clear: it’s a very good browser, very HTML5 compliant, and perhaps one of the best browsers…

…Assuming you don’t care about insane amounts of spyware - AND not having a lot of really cool browser add-ons (those having spyware and memory leaks is a separate topic, but I want to acknowledge these problems).

Edge makes more calls home per second than any other piece of software on my computer. I looked at my live log and it was a literal stream. Nearly every single action you do is tracked and sent… (waves hands confusingly up in the air in circles) …somewhere. Likely Microsoft, but I really don’t know.

Almost all of Windows is like this too. I hate it so much. There’s just no great way to have nice things right now.

  • My God. Multiple times I’ve been on that screen in the past. But every time, I’ll have no idea how I got there. I’ve tried to get back, but the best I had was on a magazine’s page at the very bottom.

    Thank you for showing this.

My opinion? This is AWFUL design. That a second settings button is THERE is unbelievable. Maybe I’m not hip to how the fediverse exactly works, but this doesn’t feel like the right route to that stuff.

  • I don’t think this is unique to any religion.

Religion is all inherently centered around trust in falsehoods. They mix it with normal philosophy, But due to the way our brains and imaginations work in relation to fear and tribal survival instincts, they get jumbled up, and the philosophy stagnates the same way the belief in imagined things does.

In other words, I view all religions as literal cult practices of irrationality and fear. Varying levels, for sure, but it’s the defining trait of religion.

That being said, as long as those people practice modern respect for others’ autonomous free wills, I don’t have a problem with them. I just also think that the defining trait of religion is conducive to not doing that.
