I remember the Firefox 2, 3 and 4 hype back in the day trying out the betas and waiting for the release. Since 5 though I stopped caring.

I used to be partial to Konqueror in the past. I wish it was still actively maintained and developed.

It all started with Apple choosing KDE’s KHTML instead of Gecko. Then it was compounded when Chrome forked WebKit to develop Chromium. Mozilla tried to modernize their engine but it was too little too late with the rise of the mobile web.

I daydream about it. Sometimes* I curse the discovery of oil. Instead of herding goats I am debugging C++ template errors. Though I do love airconditioning.

* a lie, I never do :) though I do think about goat herding.

C is okay with good tooling. I wish it was possible to mix C and Rust code in the same project. I could be wrong but last I looked C code will have to sit outside in a library or something and called externally from Rust.

The US has socially progressed and many people enjoy more individual rights now than in the past. But the material conditions have stagnated for most. The US has a political system that is responsive to social and cultural conditions but not to financial or material conditions.

That’s a very relative and personal question. Because for me the world is getting better. Not everyone lives in the US, here we graduate university with money saved instead of being in debt
