I’ve wanted to get an EV for years now. Just don’t have the infrastructure in my area yet and out of my price range. But I didn’t consider buying used. It’s great to hear that I shouldn’t concern myself with replacing the battery.

I read that the issue with used EV’s is that you eventually need to replace the battery pack which can sometimes cost you as much as the car.
Edit: Seems I was misinformed. Glad to hear that replacing EV batteries is not much of a concern.
Completely agree. I loved Legos as a kid but now they suck. Why would I want to buy a set that can realistically only be used with that set. It’s way too complicated. I want to dump them all in a bin then build whatever I want and not have to sort through all these useless niche fucking pieces.
RTO, much like everything else is about rich people. The Canadian Federal government just announced that all public servants must be in office 60% of the time by September (up from 40%). And the only reason is due to lobbying by real estate holders and businesses downtown.
I’m so fucking tired of rich people not only having the advantage of being rich but also getting every other advantage handed to them by the government.
Same here, I used to torrent all my movies. Then Netflix came out, it was a lot simpler and less time consuming to just pay 10$ a month. I torrented a lot less after that.
But now, streaming companies are just turning into cable channels. Completely negating why streaming became so popular in the first place, because it wasn’t cable. You didn’t have to suffer through ads and you could watch what you wanted when you wanted.
It’s no surprise, that’s what capitalism is, everything eventually turns to shit in the pursuit of infinite growth.
Anderson .Paak: I know he’s pretty popular but I feel like it’s mostly because of his Silk Sonic stuff. His solo albums are great, especially Malibu. He’s an incredibly talented musician and entertainer. I would strongly recommend anyone watch his Tiny Desk if you haven’t already.
Atlus: Pumps out a lot of music, not all of them are bangers. But he has a lot of good songs.
Josh A / iamjakehill: I grouped them because they do a lot of music together but they are each fantastic on their own. Save Our Souls is such a great album.
Brothers of Metal: Fun power metal band that makes music about Norse mythology. Makes you want to ride out into battle. I’ve shown this band to multiple people who are not metal/power metal fans and they love it.
Lorna Shore: I know Through the Hellfire went viral and they are pretty popular for a Deathcore band. But they definitely deserve more recognition. I used to listen to a lot of Deathcore in high school 15 years ago and Lorna Shore single handedly got me back into it. I must’ve listened to all of Pain Remains at least 50 times. I can’t get enough of Ramos’s vocals and Archey’s drumming.
Light the Torch: If you loved Killswitch Engage with Howard Jones vocals then you will love this.
I haven’t gone back to Reddit since the rapture. The only time I use it is for Google results.
I use Lemmy A LOT less than Reddit. This is a good thing imo.
Since it’s a smaller community I find that my posts and comments get a lot more traction.
I miss the smaller niche subs. Yes I know that I should contribute and make it a thing on Lemmy. No I won’t because I’m mostly a lurker and would rather just close the app than do any work.
I like how the platform is full of socialist/communist but it can become a bit of an echo chamber.
Overall I am happy with the change. Fuck Spez.
100% agree. The reason we are in this situation is because people are so fucking complacent. They downplay/justify these shitty practices repeatedly and corporations just get away with worse and worse shit.
I cancelled Prime as soon as I got this email. It was set to renew in February so perfect timing. I also sent them an email to provide some feedback about the change:
I cancelled my membership as soon as I received notification that you would be including ads to a PAID streaming service. I cannot believe that you think asking for more money per month to have an ad free experience is ok. The world is going to shit because of greedy corporations like you. I hope you go bankrupt and Jeff Bezos goes looking for the Titanic in a poorly made submarine.
Dark mode all the way. When indoors I keep my brightness very low, like at 15-20%. How some people can use white mode and 75-100% brightness is beyond me.
I spend on average an hour cooking then another hour doing dishes/clean-up almost every night of the week. Taking 15-20 minutes twice in a day then only having to clean basically a pan and bowl is definitely too lazy to cook for me.
This is my favorite too lazy to cook meal. I’ve eaten this regularly for like 20 years. I make it every few weeks. Great with ham or sausage and a bunch of sriracha.
I make a no knead pizza which is incredibly easy. It takes me about 15-20 minutes to prepare the dough in the morning. Just mix it in a bowl, cover it and let proof all day.
About an hour before you plan to eat, flatten the dough onto a baking sheet and let proof again. Once you’re ready to eat, just put sauce and toppings of your choice, cook at the highest heat setting on your oven. Should be ready in about 10-15 min.
Best pizza I’ve ever had. Doesn’t compare to the local pizza shops. A lot less greasy also.
I agree that cheddar is not bland garbage. I was just trying to make a point of how vastly different the flavors between the two were. I’ve had 4 year aged cheddar and it is fantastic. I guess I was mostly comparing the authentic high quality cheeses to low end mass produced crap. Not really a Parmigiano vs cheddar thing I guess. I’m sorry if I gave that impression.
Also, that’s a great idea. I have some homemade gnocchi in my freezer, I should try it with Parmigiano and pecorino.
They can be used to replace, I just put less. Not sure why you would say that. You don’t use a soft cheese when you make authentic Carbonara.
What are you even saying. They are both cheese. Take macaroni and cheese for example. Most boxed macaroni and cheese uses cheddar and so do many people when they make it themselves.
But I’ve made it with a combination of Parmigiano and pecorino romano and it was fantastic. Much better than when I made it with cheddar. Same thing with scalloped potatoes, made them with cheddar many times but they were never as good as when I made them with the Italian cheese.
Not sure what point you are trying to prove?
I’m sure that’s true. I’ve never had the imitation stuff so I don’t know how they compare. I’ve just been blown away by how good they are that it justifies the price for me. They are very strong cheeses so you don’t need to use much. I vacuum seal them after every use so they last forever.
On a semi-related note, Guanciale is ridiculously expensive and that I can’t justify buying no matter how much I want to make authentic Carbonara.
I understand that those are completely different but most people don’t buy authentic Parmigiano, pecorino romano or grana padano(I need to try this one). They use the regular plain cheese you buy in the big box stores. So to the average person putting a micro chip in a cheese wheel (which I read wasn’t even true) is an absurd notion. But I was pointing out that the regular cheddar/mozzarella the average person buys is bland garbage compared to these cheeses. I think people should try them and they will realize why they care so much about its authenticity.
You can get lunch meat that doesn’t have cultured celery extract or sodium nitrate. It’s usually only chicken or turkey, ham pretty much always has it in my experience.
I’ve also been meaning to make my own using a ham press. You have to grind the meat, fill the tube and boil it. Then you can cut into slices and it’s almost the same as what you get in store.
