🤠🤠
Did it even start as that? Or did Reddit just bought it and put it away and made something completely different?
I rlly feel like 2023 is a year of a lot of things coming to light. Not just because of this but there was some stuff that happened earlier in the year and i got the impression that that’d be the ‘theme’ for this year (it feels like since 2020 every year has a ‘theme’ in some way.) This isnt super related tho but i feel like if there was any doubt that these companies are profit driven and WILL put that above user experiences, even if only for pennies, is largely been confirmed this year.
Its under more, then activity
Boosts = boosts, reduces = downvotes, favourites = upvotes
I didnt like to check the karma on my comments bc what if i got downvoted or worse… what if someone replied to me and id have to engage in conversation?! :0
I dont, but i understand people expecting kbin or Lemmy to be replacements bc people have said that theyre replacements for Reddit and to move there. And tbh kbin is not bad (havent used Lemmy much)
So much of that, just trying to profit off people helping and communicating with others. Those should be free, or at least not exploited! I wonder how it was like back when the internet was new. I was not alive yet then, but i wonder if people then even thought about how much would be commercialized? Or were they hoping it will now just be an easy way to communicate with people all around the world, share info and stuff. Idk if most people knew that the desire to connect with others would be capitalized on like this. What was the internet made for in the start? I always heard to help more long distance communication, sharing and learning. But now is just turn into capitalisme highway. That it does not even matter about human connection, all that matters is something is produced to be consumed as cheaply as possible. Its sad.
Yea. I guess “reddit cannot survive without its moderators” =/= “reddit cannot survive without HUMAN moderators.” Probably if they had the capacite to, and any excuse, they wouldve already just replaced mod system with AI.
I heard some people are doing on June 30/July 1st bc thats when the changes were suppose to go into effect.
Idk if youve ever seen the bagel made of semi solid pasta and sauce that had a bite out of it? I think that was in TIHI once. Im gonna try and find it and link it.
Edit: this is the google image result. U can see is from that subreddit but also posted other places.
I do get ppl saying its complicated. A lot of people dont know much about servers just as a start? (Not that you really have to to use kbin or lemmy.) or know anything about federation or what it mean in this sense. If you ask them what is meant by instance, most people saying so probably wouldn’t understand that in this sense even if English’s their maternal language. Not even that those people arent smart, just like just because you dont understand a foreign language doesnt mean youre not smart: this is just an area they dont know about.
I think some people find it strange that people are confused, because maybe they dont often talk with people who arent as familiar with technology, or more used to being on ‘tech’ related parts of the internet where some people would understand these. It seems this way bc the community of kbin seems to be more into technology, like i seen programmer humor posts get popular a lot, and discussions about linux, and the technology magazine, and stuff like that.
If so i can see why someone being confused would be surprising. But know that: a lot of people probably wouldnt join other social media either if it was more user-driven (in terms of setup? If thats phrased right?) which is why stuff gets more simplified on official websites and app. Is important to remember that many people (even some my own age!) dont have any context for all of this stuff they would need to deal with and decide in order to use Kbin/Lemmy - dont know what is an instance. What is federation. Defederation. I would say its easy to understand once you try, but i know i speak for myself who already has some knowledge and interest about technology and learn fast. And not everyone even wants to use something that required them to figure it out as they go.
One time i think r/darkhumor did a while ago like make random people mods (or is it r/darkjokes ??) and… yea lol
I think is just that it depends on the person, like some ppl might be less open than others bc thats just how they are whether or not they were ND. Maybe thats just how hise personality is or how his traits manifest
it seems that reddit are delaying following through with most requests until after 1 July when API requests (such as those that shreddit uses) will be blocked.
I was sooo worried about this and thinking that something like that would be done, back when i saw someone warn in the save 3rd party apps sub that u should request your data. Still i tried making a request bc i thought maybe reddit did not catch on yet or maybe bc it was before the blackout there can still be a chance, but till now i never got the data. :(
probably i’ll just leave the comments and posts. I did not post a lot.
If the sub were private that time, wouldnt it have prevented him from being able to delete the comment in there in the first place (bc he wouldnt be able to see them when its privet?) In this case he was able to see them i guess because he was able to delete them specific. But am not sure
Don’t download it just to try! It has trackers be careful. Is better not to ever download it really.
I dont even think is just like that bc someone made a post about the response from users of the piracy subreddit to the blackout, and those there also were saying things like, that those who left are mod boots lickers. I don’t know if it’s so much ab your interests, bc there are people who care and people who dont in probably every group. Probably bc a lot of people against what spez is doing already left, so the ones left are mostly those who support spez or apathetic *tho not all of them
Not everyone tho i wasnt using Reddit bc im trying to avoid giving it traffic. Some ppl also just left like deleted their account even just before the blackout
I dont wanna give them traffic so i just trying to avoid going at all on reddit
Hello i hope you dont mind if i post that post, in case someone does not want to go onto reddit:
