In the course of discussing whether Archive.today should be deprecated because of the DDoS, Wikipedia editors discovered that the archive site altered snapshots of webpages to insert the name of the blogger who was targeted by the DDoS. The alterations were apparently fueled by a grudge against the blogger over a post that described how the Archive.today maintainer hid their identity behind several aliases.

This is their strategy. Whenever the right is doing something vile, they will repeatedly accuse the left of committing the same sort of acts. They will scream long and loud that the left is committing terrorist acts, and with the power of the accusation weakened by overuse, they can simply hand-wave away any similar accusation leveled at them. They’ve been doing this kind of thing for a long time now. “Every accusation is a confession” isn’t just an amusing observation. It’s literally their strategy.

I had a friend that moved very far away. We stayed in touch for a while. But he was very busy running a business and raising a special needs toddler with his wife so contact became sporadic. At first I was very understanding and would repeatedly initiate contact that generally, but not always, seemed to well received. After a year or two, I pretty much gave up except for an occasional outreach. I thought that he must be mad at me about something though I couldn’t imagine what. After a year or so of minimal contact, I learned that he was suffering from, and hiding, crippling depression. I found out because he hanged himself.
If you care for the person, put in the fucking effort. You don’t know what’s going on in their life. I will never forgive myself for not trying harder.
That turns out not to be the case. P eople have been charged and convicted with convincing others to commit suicide before. Those at Google should be held responsible for this death in the same way.
Michelle Carter, who as a teenager sent texts urging her then-boyfriend to commit suicide three years ago, has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter by a Massachusetts judge, who described her behavior as “reckless.”

HSI officers were assisting South Padre Island police by redirecting traffic through a busy intersection after a vehicle accident with several injuries.
A blue, four-door Ford with a driver and passenger approached the officers, who ordered the driver to stop. The report does not say why. Initially, the driver didn’t respond to commands but did eventually come to a stop, according to the report.
Agents then surrounded the vehicle, telling those inside to get out, but the driver “accelerated forward” and struck an HSI special agent “who wound up on the hood of the vehicle,” the report said. An HSI supervisory special agent standing by the side of the car then fired his weapon multiple times through the open driver’s side window, and the vehicle stopped.
Same story, different murder. To be sure, at least one of the many officers present at the incident had their body cam turned on, right? Right?

That’s the genius of the GOP. They craft all these lies accusing the Democrats of crimes that Republicans are actively committing. Then when their own crimes come to light, the GOP base assumes that the accusations against the Republicans are also lies and dismiss them without thought.
