Happened to me once. Nearly killed my desire to discuss firearms here on Lemmy. Not sure if this is true, but I feel that most people on Lemmy are likely anti-gun. Maybe the more liberal mindset of many people in the wider open source community has some part in it. Either way, I just want to dispel all the false claims about guns and their ownership. And some don’t want to hear it.

That’s how I feel with nearly any online conversation. I’m on the spectrum and have social anxiety. Not a fun combo for trying to be understood when being critical about anything really. Let alone someone’s favourite game.

Nobody has to pay for anything Lemmy or ActivityPub related because its FOSS.

That means Free Open Source Software.

As in, you can get and use the source code yourself without paying a single cent.

The term “assault weapon” is being used by people who know nothing about firearms to refer to anything that isn’t an old bolt action these days.

What is the point in making up terms for firearms that have never been used for them even by the military?

It only serves to muddy the waters and scare people.

Keep thinking that. Meanwhile most people here wouldn’t be able to fight off someone with a knife.

It takes size and muscle, shooting the attacker takes a single trigger pull.

You may not like to hear it, but guns aren’t going anywhere. Maybe if we stop making out gun owners to be some raging lunatics. Then they may be more likely to give them up.

Chlorine Trifluoride is a better oxidizer than Oxygen itself. Hell, the germans in WW2 tried making self igniting flamethrowers with the stuff. But stopped because it was too nasty to work with.

At that point, they might as well just spray it directly on people. Screw using a fuel to ignite when the trifluoride is enough to set fire to literally anything. Even wet sand can be burnt by it.

For the main systems, sure. But non critical systems can pretty much run nearly anything.

Probably try a raspberry pi one. Custom built and with a custom OS. Not sure if there is a version of Lineage or Graphene that works on it, but that’s an option.
