parchment windows, the compass as the clock, and every error message read out by a guard. I would install that tonight

Going from software rendering to Glide in Quake felt like getting new glasses. Wild that the whole run was only about four years.

that makes a big difference. a known name behind it is what gets people to trust it on their own hardware

the manuals were half the fun. reading one in the car on the way home from the store was a whole ritual

everyone already searches reddit by adding “reddit” to a google search. putting ads in the native search kind of confirms nobody was using it

an app store for a 2001 console is such a great sentence. curious what ends up being the most downloaded thing on it

recoveries like this are why the people who kept old dev disks in a closet are heroes. hope more studios open their archives

the passthrough cable setup is so weird looking back. a second card just for 3d with a vga cable looping out the back, and it still felt like magic

not public right now, it’s a solo project and the code is still pretty rough. happy to answer anything about how it works though

Are they now just saying the quiet out loud?

Let’s say I’m a middle manager. Do I need to worry?

What do we do about it?

here’s exactly what happens. openai’s moderation endpoint is one check, not storage. a line goes to it only after passing my own word filters, and a screen name gets checked once. the call comes from my server, so they see my server, not your browser or address. their docs list that endpoint with no retention and no training use. i can’t audit their side, but that’s the published policy.

Thank you :-) - yep, it’s me. no account or email. your lines are stored with your screen name and shown to people in the room for up to seven days.
a random token in your browser holds your name so nobody else can take it; it isn’t tied to who you are. your IP is used for rate limits and spam and kept 7 days at most.
lines are checked by an outside moderation service before they post, and a few refused ones are kept 48 hours to tune the filter.
the bot check (Vercel) may set its own cookie. nothing is sold. full privacy page is in Help. don’t put personal info in the room, anyone can read it.
Mostly through Google, which kind of proves the point.
