Same here. I used to shave my head and face but recently I went through a period of over-work and didn’t have time to shave. Everyone told me I looked better with hair and beard, including the wife. So hair and beard it is then

I agree, it’s one of the things I dislike about the fediverse (I’m on Kbin)

Sourdough pancakes. Just put some oil in the pan, pour your starter, and add some spices.
Ah, good to know. I wonder how is it possible then for Debain-based distros (MX) to run well on this notebook
Thanks, that’s actually a very clear tutorial. Definitely saving it
This laptop wouldn’t even run on windows so I’m not sure what you’re suggesting
Oh shit, what newest release did you upgrade to? I think I have MX21 in my Acer one
Thanks! Great advice 👍
I’ve been hearing good things about opensuse while researching my alternatives
Because it does give me a functional piece of software to grab YouTube videos without actually opening YouTube, but it cannot really run Firefox with uBlock, which basically means web browsing is impossible
Hmmm yeah I hadn’t thought about upgrading the laptop, that’s a big idea, and indeed it should be super cheap
Thanks! I’ll check it out

Why would she hate Linux?
Interesting and related: Noam Chomsky, in his work as linguist, has stated that what reaches the ear (or the eye in this case) is not what reaches the mind. What this means is that we experience language as if it was linearly ordered, when at the cognitive level (in the mind) language is actually hierarchically organized. This means that the underlying structure of language has to interface with the sensory-motoe systems in order to transform the hierarchical structure into a linear one. This is why we sometimes also struggle putting our thoughts into words, because in that interface there is a change in structure that doesn’t always preserve the ‘original’ (hierarchical) structure
