  • I’m in the USA and have four charging apps. I think you can pay via card at some chargers but I’ve never tried, I only pay with the apps. I use the apps because I review my route beforehand and verify the chargers were used recently, as there are a few dead chargers or chargers that aren’t actually accessible 24/7. I also use the apps because the charger screens/buttons are sometimes fried from being in the sun all day, and my phone is the only way to interface. Then there is the problem of ICE vehicles blocking access, but that seems to be a less common problem as time goes on.

The system sounds a bit better than what you’re experiencing, but I don’t really like it. My main complaint is the chargers are all unattended. It’s not like a gas pump where there’s an employee who can at least put an out-of-order sign on it or perhaps get it working again. If it breaks down there’s no one to ask for help and methheads sometimes steal the charging cable. This creates a situation where I’m not 100% certain I can charge at a location until I get there, which I think is the root of my complaint.

  • I’ve noticed this as well, first time was Texas in 2020. I’d lived in other places prior and never noticed it. I’ve sinced moved away from Texas, and the bahavior is a lot less common here. I couldn’t figure out why people did it. My theory is, people initially stop at a reasonable distance from the next car and pull out their phone. The next car moves a bit forward for some reason, and the person on their phone doesn’t notice.

  • No no, it’s great, thanks for sharing and sorry for your troubles. As I was reading your first comment I was getting freedom vibes and then, oh shit, you dropped their name. Yay! /s

The level of incompetence I’ve seen is peanuts compared to what you’ve been through. I looked up the specifics of PMI cancellation from the consumer financial protection bureau and the last letter they sent is simply wrong, while the second one was 99% correct. I think I’ll send them copies of the letters and ask for clarification just to be a hassel.

Again I keep thinking AI. In what way they’re using it, I don’t know, but the randomness of the responses I’ve received makes me think nobody is at the wheel. The one time I called, the person gave me inaccurate numbers for pmi cancellation, and he said had to wait for a calculator to spit out a value. Perhaps they are interacting with an AI that dictates their output.

  • I also noticed there is something fucky going on at Freedom Mortgage. I asked them about the requirements for canceling my PMI. The guy on the phone said one thing, then I received an unrequested letter saying something else, then another unrequested letter completly contradicting everything prior, saying I can’t cancel PMI even if I pay down the principal to the PMI threshold, which I’m pretty sure isn’t how it works. I think they have AI running everything or something.
