Microsoft Bob was a Microsoft software product intended to provide a more user-friendly interface for the Windows 3.1, Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems, supplanting the Windows Program Manager. The program was released on March 10, 1995, and discontinued in early 1996.

I don’t buy green olives or macadamia nuts anymore.

If I have a whole jar of green olives, I eat a whole jar of green olives, one after the other. Same for the nuts.

Hmm. I feel like one could mount a chair to one of these and have the mop sticking out of the ringer, handy for jousting purposes. Seems more comfy.

I drink instant because, well, it’s instant, and I can’t tell that one is better or worse than the other.

Coffee, cigars, chocolate, wine, cheese, etc. All these things people obsess over and judge; they all seem equal to me. Not better or worse, just different.

Honestly, I feel bad throwing them away. I have a collection of about 30 of them because I feel like I should be able to find a use for them, or at lease someone should. I stopped saving them.

When I flew RC gliders, we flew off cliffs because the wind hits the cliff and shoots straight up, letting the glider just float around in the updraft. It’s called “ridge lift”.

Maybe the wind died at just the wrong moment?

I realize wing suits don’t fly the way gliders fly. But, I suspect they need ridge lift when they first jump off to get started.

I see this means they can change the prices in the store as quickly and easily as they do online. And, they don’t need to pay people to change the paper tags.

But, you’re not forced to log in before you can see the prices online, meaning they aren’t changing the price based on who is logged in, and I sincerely doubt they’d change prices on the shelves while the store is open, where shoppers could pick an item, and then the price is higher when they get to the check out.

It makes it easier for them to change prices, but the shoppers still can choose not to buy the product at the price offered.

Our focus should be on demanding higher wages, and more rights, through unionizing and voting. We can complain about this, too, but I doubt trying to pass some law against digital shelf signs will make much difference for us. I’m certainly not against it, I just don’t think it will help much at all.

Maybe I’m missing something obvious here, I’m not very smart.

Nothing crazy. I wouldn’t try to invest it someway to get mo money, beyond an interest bearing savings account, because chances are good I’d lose it.

Pay off my house. Travel a bit--France, Spain, maybe SEA for the food and to experience something different. Buy a camper van and visit the old campgrounds in CA and OR my family had vacations at when I was a kid. Leave as much as I could to my son after that.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

Before long, they’ll be self-hosting chat apps. Or, figuring out eepsites. Or running Mastadon on Tor.

Here’s what is interesting about these things. The concept was that no one would break the glass spuriously to get to the fire extinguisher unless there was a fire. BUT, anyone who wanted to use the fire extinguisher for some purpose other than an emergency would have no qualms about breaking the glass--it’s just one more social contract to break on the way to breaking a social contract.

Maybe that’s why they aren’t around anymore, they never really worked as intended. It’s just that so few people would find nefarious purpose for a fire extinguisher that it seemed to work, because the glass was rarely broken without need.

In case of broken glass, break glass. Since you’re cleaning up anyway.
