My pragmatic side is absolutely disgusted with this - why would you gift a gun to your kid while living in an urban area? It makes no practical sense other than fueling this weird American obsession with guns.
I understand giving your teen kid a hunting rifle if you live in a rural area and go hunting sometimes, but not an AR in a city - it’s just asking for trouble.
Welcome to the club - after starting to use window managers around 3 years ago at this point, I haven’t gone back. Whenever I’m forced to use Windows or a regular DE, I start instinctively abusing virtual desktops feature lol
I read it as AI somehow making more people sick therefore more of them needing to go see pharmacists, therefore pharmacists seeing more patients
Dude looks like a Far Cry villain
Didn’t Musk unironically have a burner twitter account where he would pretend to be a 3 year old child? Grok might be onto something here
Doubt procrastination will stop even after 60-70 becomes a new high in those countries and people start dying en masse
Good, but why now? For years, Google has been way more dominant both practically and culturally until very recently, and only now after they stumbled hard with their AI venture, Bing catching up, and their public opinion dropping do they decide to break the company up.
Does this mean that a monopoly is good as long as it’s successful, but once it starts stumbling and outlives its use that’s when the government is gonna do something about it?
Man, I wish. The problem nowadays is that denuvo is actually effective - many titles that are rather popular but have denuvo DRM haven’t been cracked for years at this point, so the only practical choice is to wait for years until those game companies stop their contract subscriptions and DRM gets removed.
I remember this article from a couple days ago where some chess player poisoned their opponent’s board with mercury, and I’d like to believe they copied this strategy from Musk’s SpaceX. He is truly a visionary and innovator, inspiring chess players to discover new strategies.
I don’t think racism itself is enough for Trump and far-right to succeed, which is precisely why they’ve combined it with populism and working class rhetoric. Of course, there’s still racism like how muslims are being portrayed as violent beasts as opposed to culture white christians, but a lot of it is also things like “immigrants are taking away money from welfare thats why you live bad” or “immigrants are taking our jobs” or “jews control everything and steal from workers” and so on, you know what they say.
Like any good right-wing propaganda, there is a grain of truth in those statements, and it’s that economic reality of working class is shit - wages are stagnant, exploitation is rampant and just pure stress when it comes to finances. I do believe that if people’s needs are met then the racist rhetoric would lose a lot of its power and people will just stop caring as much as they do right now, but that’s very unlikely without any radical action.
RIP. Even though she got a lot of shit from the youtube community, at least she was a bit better than what youtube currently has.
Always the ones you least suspect
Same, as soon as I have to scroll in order to navigate my tabs I just instinctively go on a closing spree
The one time copypasting a bunch of buildings was actually a good idea
Same as you, I was somewhat already leaning towards Linux but seeing Windows 10 EOL announced around 3 years ago and seeing what new “features” are going to be implemented to Windows 11, I decided to hop ship.
The main reason for switch was privacy concerns, got redpilled by Mental Outlaw while he was still making regular Linux videos.
It’s not really surprising - historically, the creation Israel state was helped massively by antisemitists, who wanted to get rid of jews in their own country and having them a place to immigrate to would be the easiest option (the phenomena is often referred to as Zionist antisemitism).
So yeah, it does make sense - they can hate the jews, but also support Israel at the same time.
My very first distro was Manjaro actually - I tried it twice but there would always be some graphics related issue I would encounter that I couldn’t troubleshoot as a beginner (even though I’d spend a week looking for a solution on forums), and I’d move back to Windows. Finally getting the courage to try out Arch which was considered the “big scary meme distro” was what made me stay with Linux.
The biggest thing for me was that I actually knew what was installed on my system and what the function most of the major programs served (things like xorg, multilib graphics drivers, pipewire/pulseaudio, desktop environments/window managers), so whenever I encountered an issue or wanted to customize something, I would sort of know where to start looking.
Of course, all this depends on the person - not all power users are the same. For me, arch worked best but someone else might gravitate towards fedora, debian or whatever else and their way of doing things.
Arch isn’t a bad choice for a new Linux user who was a power user on Windows. You get to actually know what’s installed on your system which can really help during the inevitable troubleshooting, though it’s definitely a trial by fire when it comes to manual install and setting up the environment.
Recommending Gentoo to a new user though is a war crime.
Yeah, this is an absolute shame. He tried doing something similar shortly after the genocide had started, but everyone else currently in power just shut him down almost unanimously.
If politics and getting into power wasn’t 90% based on your wealth and connections, maybe US could have more people like Bernie trying to actually do good rather than trying to enrich or empower themselves.
