And the water keeps going cold so you have to use even more hot water. The only bath I’d ever use is the one at the wellness place in town. The freezing cold one. Though if it gets too hot I think I’ll just chill water in the fridge and tip it over my head. I haven’t tried that yet but it’ll be a lot cooler than the water in the pipes on a hot day!

At a certain age, perhaps in my late twenties, I just gave up on politics. I haven’t voted in 10 years.
America first sounded good to a lot of impressionable young men but even they now understand that it’s just about global empire and wars for Zionists.
I don’t care what side people are on or whether they are completely deluded or not. I always like to hear what people think even if it’s stupid.
I’m not left-wing I’m just here for the anti-imperialist memes and some Linux and to complain about landlords. Lemmy is a good way to follow US politics too.
The free exchange of ideas doesn’t work on social media. Even on a 1st amendment guaranteed website like Gab you’ll get the same problems. Maybe a minority of people hate trump on there and view him as a zionist puppet, even then, it’s just right wing factions squabbling over the details.
The best way to get a contrast of views would be to pick a small handful of over-thinkers from different political factions, people who are passive and tired and who question how much activism can achieve. Then have those people discuss the day’s news.
More fat than protein.

My 2 cents.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I'm brave enough to say it: Linux is good now, and if you want to feel like you actually own your PC, make 2026 the year of Linux on (your) desktop

I recently got an old PC from a friend, it’s a 2018 PC and the hard drive is NVME. It’s at least 4 times faster than my “adata” brand SSD from my 2018 PC. I barely tinkered with Windows and gaming capabilities and pretty much installed Ubuntu within 24 hours of trying this PC. It can’t run Windows 11 and there’s no point in using Windows 10.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Is gamedev a good hobby? or should i try something else?
4·1 month agoIf you have $12 to spend then I can recommend a tutorial series for you which you can buy on itch io. It’s in ‘c’ but you can easily transfer the skills to Python and everything is much nicer. I only recommend c for foundation skills. I respect the old skool methods - it may open your mind.
If you’re still young then I want to convince you that it’s worth your time. You don’t need to be very smart to make simple programs but you can save yourself time and frustration by avoiding stupid mistakes. I know a guy in Australia who can motivate you on this, I sometimes voice call him on Signal.
I no longer prioritise software any more because I’m focused on simply surviving. I’m too old to care any more lol. That said, I do have plans to film interviews with people who work in this field. I’m thinking about doing code review videos and discussions about how to be a good programmer, but not from a heavily commercial pperspective (I hate those endlessly positive videos on youtube who want you to think that anyone can succeed in the industry and become wealthy). I don’t know how viable the industry is any more and I just want to make hobby videos and encourage people to find a path that works for them. I think gamedev is one of the best paths for learning software, unless you want to make web apps instead.

I tackle my cat and pretend we’re playing rugby. He got a wee bit too excited the other day and I did get a tiny scratch. I had my hands around him and I continued to hold him as he rolled on the ground. When I withdrew my hands I did it in a slight panic, and too fast, so he grabbed me with all his paws at once lol.
