This is so stupid. I love it!
My counterpoint is that you have to use WhatsApp (I rather use Signal) because iMessage is Apple only. SMS and RCS are stupid. With Signal you can reach users of all devices. Having a messaging protocol that depends on the device used is stupid. And hopefully the EU can end the vendor lock in with messaging apps as well.
Don’t know in which ones, but if you play a song backwards you hear it say “Jesus loves you”.
Apparently lemmy even has the field newest_comment_time_necro
.
You can see the exact post date in the nerd stuff. It’s 2020-10-25. For some reason it appeared in Hot on my instance. And it looks like it did for others as well.
Well, at least OP is finally getting some answers.
Wait, did I just reply to a three years old post?
German here.
The country doesn’t celebrate it, at least not like it’s done in the US. Depending on the state All Hallows Day or the day before is a holiday, but apart from churches not many people really “celebrate” them.
But some people like to use the day off to have a US-inspired Halloween party. And some children also dress up and go from door to door. But this varies from family to family. Some streets might be swarming with kids while the next street over nobody knows that anything is going on. So many houses aren’t even prepared to give out candies, they often scramble to get something to give out.
But about two weeks later there is the St Martin’s feast. Although that’s also dependend on the region I think overall it’s more common. It consists of several parts that vary from region to region. But in all regions children carry (usually self made) lanterns. Then they either march through the town while singing songs, ending at a big fire and usually a guy on a horse dressed like a Roman soldier, representing St Martin. Or they go from door to door in small groups, sing songs and get candy. Often it’s both on separate days of the week.
Yeah, that would be stupid.
You could browse through wefwef.app.
Long Covid is an umbrella term anyways. CFS is just the most common one. And even that can be very mild.
I think I actually very mild CFS before I got Covid. It kinda sounds like what you describe. I’d get cold-like symptoms very often. Reliably after exercising too much. But I didn’t have brainfog or anything else. That just came after Covid.
It makes Corona!!!111
I am very satisfied with my Fairphone 3. I still get monthly security updates. I can easily unlock the bootloader and install any alternative ROM I desire. I can repair any broken part without having to unglue something. But it also seems to be the most robust phone I have used in years. There’s a reason a used Fairphone is as expensive as a new one.
If you really want to go all-in on privacy a Pinephone or Librem 5 would be options but they have their own bag of problems. They are better suited for tinkering.
And regarding the comment on firmware updates of the parts themselves, that is a general computing problem that seems to be the worst with single board computers like smartphones. The solution would be parts with support for open firmware but they are almost impossible to find. I think Fairphone is going a good middle ground. I don’t expect there to be any phone where this is better.
I’m always astonished how little some other parents care about their children’s privacy. Schools as well.
I think you got Long Covid. Don’t overdo it or you could end up in bed permanently. I think the medical community is finally coming around to the idea that it’s just another way to get ME/CFS.
I made a community on !cfs@feddit.de but it’s pretty empty. Most of those guys decided to stay on Reddit. Can’t really fault a community of people too tired to do much of anything to not move over to a new platform.
The Liftoff Android client at least has a feature to combine the feeds of your accounts.
If only the people actually ordering the game would win the price instead of those playing it.
I’d let my kids collect the bounty.
That would have been me.
One time I went to school with my trousers on backwards. The whole class noticed it when I went to the blackboard to present something.
But that was nothing next to the time we were outside for sports class in semi cold weather and a fly flew into my nose. It flew back out, dragging a long string of snot behind it. And it kept coming and coming and I could not stop it. And of course nobody had a handkerchief and still the snot kept flowing out. My best friend said he thought my brain was leaking.
I have illustrated the whole ordeal here: https://www.bjoern-tantau.de/?p=228
Yeah, Lemmy is more or less just a new way to do what Usenet has been doing for decades.
