Output from an AI has just been recently considered as not copyrightable.
Where can I read more about this? I’ve seen it mentioned a few times, but never with any links.

I’m guessing that no one here does. If you’re on Lemmy, you’re probably also using Mastodon instead of Twitter.
Drives me crazy when I see this kind of format for things like programming. Nothing like pausing the video and trying to see what their code says.
Exactly! Always push for code pointers for everything people tell you about the codebase. Even if the code has a bug and isn’t working as intended, it’s so important to know the actual truth if what’s happening.
An easy way to confirm your first point: would you still want to do it if you were paid significantly less? If so, then yeah, you’re in the right place.
So many problems can be solved by just reading the code. A corollary to this: make sure the code you write is readable.
I absolutely don’t understand people who think the best course of action is to waste their time giving Reddit a ton of traffic to create a tiny protest on r/place that will have little impact on anything.
Exactly. This event is an effort for them to prove that the platform is just as active and enjoyable as it was before the chaos.
Who on earth decided to leave the projector on while they took the group photo?
I actually had to temporarily block the memes community because of this. Sorting by hot resulted in nothing but memes, and it was driving me crazy that they were doing the whole “post old memes” thing.
I love how you didn’t even read the sidebar of this community and just posted whatever you wanted anyway.
My first job was as a seasonal delivery helper for UPS during the holidays. We would work crazy days, 8 am to 8 pm usually. We wouldn’t even stop for lunch, I would take bites of food I had brought between stops. I figured that was just the way things were, never had a job before that.
When I saw my paycheck, I noticed they were taking out time for both lunch breaks and other breaks that were required by law. I never took a single one of those breaks, because the driver I worked with didn’t. I felt powerless to complain, because I really needed a job, but looking back it pisses me off to no end. That was blatant theft of my time.
Rule #1 in internet privacy: don’t assume best intentions of anyone. Just because it is open source does not mean whoever hosts the instance didn’t modify the source.
Idk man, that filter led me to this post.
I’m guessing we’ll see less song lyric stuff due to the lack of karma. Those threads were basically only good for harvesting free upvotes.
RPG Maker XP was released in 2004, nearly 20 years ago, and yet the entire Pokemon fan game community uses it exclusively. Pokemon Essentials, by far the best framework for creating fan games, is written for it, and is still maintained to this day. It’s such a large complicated project, with a huge ecosystem of plugins and resources, that it’s impractical to migrate to the newer RPG Maker software that has been released since.
The only real community I saw that migrated was r/piracy. Otherwise, I’ve experienced basically the same thing you have.
I’ll bet they wouldn’t.
I’ve seen the Sunnyvale tennis center convert a couple tennis courts into temporary pickleball courts to meet demand since at least the beginning of this year. I wonder if they’ll actually make the investment to build more dedicated courts.
That matches my experience at most modern arcades. As a kid I remember going to nickel arcades and being able to play quite a few games with just a dollar. Now I take my kids to one and they burn through 10 dollars in like 5 minutes without even playing any actual games.
