I don’t consider myself hypersensitive, but that was a really asshat remark to make to a large group of people.

Didn’t have enough comment karma.
I’ve noticed BBC all over pornhub too.
The fact that Relay can stay free of charge while “exploring subscription options” means Reddit modified their terms with some developers. The original deal announced at the end of May meant devs would incur charges starting July 1, although they wouldn’t have to pay for those charges until August. That would mean racking up potentially millions in costs right away.
Reddit said they would work with developers who kept communication open, but then they wouldn’t answer emails. If a deal was made with Relay it would have been very last minute and therefore rather unprofessional.
I used Relay but will not reinstall because it is temporarily free. I am done with Reddit. They don’t respect their users or recognize where their value derives from.
It doesn’t seem too important what someone you have blocked can see, if blocking is working and you don’t see them.
We’d need an objective way to measure lameness and then review a large set of posts (on a particular sub?) from a couple of months ago vs now. Criteria have to be pre-determined to avoid the post hoc fallacy.
Average words or characters per comment? Number of insults directed at other commenters (measured by someone blinded to which group they came from)? Number of “controversial” comments judged by large numbers of up and downvoted?
I dunno. I’m not doing it. Not a social scientist. Just suggesting an interesting experiment.
100 nature magazines would get pretty niche.
I thought the most remarkable thing was the “moderator” proclaiming their innocence by stating they hadn’t been to the sub in question for at least six months and never talk to the top mod.
I mean, if we can’t get Obama, I guess.
That’s the only sub I was ever banned from, and I was banned twice. First time the mod said my comment didn’t fit my history and asked if it was a joke. I was unbanned when I replied it was, indeed, a joke. Second time was more or less the same thing. Banned for trolling.
I used to comment on many subs, and I would sometimes write something sarcastically without the /s. Just depended on my mood in the moment. I unsubbed because I knew there was no way I wouldn’t just break the rule again. Also, I didn’t want to read a sub I was banned on because I would forget and likely waste my time composing a comment that would be rejected.
You got downvoted, but the responses (at the time of writing this) were not vitriolic. But no forum will remain strictly positive without draconian mod action.
Took me a moment to figure out you meant Cartman.
Why not use Reddit? Because some people are boycotting Reddit out of principle.
Yes, some people obviously give a shit or it wouldn’t have been posted here.
I was expecting them to stay neutral.
That’s all fine and good, but when are we going to get the Sudetenland back? That should be the next step toward a final solution for Germany.
