I think people just have more trust in platforms made by public figures, as dumb as that sounds.

I still don’t understand why anyone would still be using Twitter today

Lots of content I want to see is on Twitter and the alternatives those content creators use are like Instagram or even worse. If I have to choose between Twitter and Instagram, then Twitter is the obvious choice, still.

Every once in a while I check who is now on Mastodon, and I am always happy when I see a few more users I like. But then I look and many people rather look for Project 92 or Bluesky from Jack instead of just joining Mastodon.

that is currently the situation due to boost and favorite being switched to make kbin more compatible with lemmy, but post and user reputation are currently still counting boosts.

Something we really should not take to kbin and lemmy is mods like this, spez can keep such mods.

I just looked a bit through the mastodon accounts of core developers.

I first was on Lemmy, now on kbin. Kbin is just a much more nicer experience. Also it’s not developed by tankies who glorify f*cking Mao Zedong. Simple as that.

It makes no sense to show beehaw in that, they federated from the rest, they are just a forum and not part of any threadiverse.

Defederation is a feature of the Fediverse, and using it isn’t some big crime.

Defederation was meant as a last measure to block instances like gab.ai or truth social. Not to block content the Moderators may not like. At the end it should be the users choice what content they enjoy. Large instances blocking each other betrays the whole idea, the dream that we can all communicate. This is, at its core, Gmail blocking Outlook users to send mails to Gmail users because Outlook allows X, Y and Z and its just insanity.

Sadly you can not. You just make a new account on a kbin instance and move your stuff manually sadly.

Kbin is much more polished already. While lemmy is more or less a clone of old reddit, kbin is more like modern reddit just without the suck. Also, both are compatible.

Both Lemmy and kbin are reddit-like link aggregators. They are to a extend straight copies of what reddit is now, or what reddit was in the past.
In the same way that Mastodon is without any doubt made to be like twitter.

It is only natural that people who liked aspects of reddit would want to see the same aspects here. That does not mean that we need to copy everything, we now have the chance to do things reddit did not.
