It depends on whether you’re a server or PC. For PCs (as in personal computing) I agree systemd-networkd-wait-online.service should be disabled. For servers, I think it’s plausible that you require a network to be at all meaningful, especially if there’s some sort of database.

this sounds like being proud of a western bias. we are the fortunate. it should be our duty to consider perspectives that have been disadvantaged and where information about this side of the internet doesn’t flow as freely as it does in the first-world culture.

I think the argument is more “we shouldn’t develop them further to avoid any problems that may come with effectively consciousness” (wink wink at rogue behavior) (not “we should sanctify the LLM”), but you have a point.

that’s not it. the article features that they’re most commonly writing moral compasses for LLMs to follow, not us, that’s the opposite. so i agree that all those ethical concerns seem to be ignored but at least they’re not telling us what to do.
