It’s necessary where I live too (inland Los Angeles) and we also keep our thermostat at 80 all summer. The summer power bills really hurt, but we have to. We’re unfortunately not in a position for solar financially but I really wish we were!
We didn’t get it until the beginning of the year and it laid the household low. The younger people recovered more quickly than us middle-aged ones did. I think it was about two weeks before I really had my energy back.
It only took one person to take their mask off to eat indoors one time to get us all sick and he was really pissed at himself. 😐 We still mask because we have elderly parents, cancer patients, and a transplant patient in the family, and really don’t want to infect them.

It’s like reddit has a fundamental misunderstanding of what some of their core userbase was there for. We weren’t there to meet people and make connections and lifelong friends. We were there because our brains want constant input but for information and learning, not entertainment. We can have these same discussions with anyone anywhere. It’s not that we’re antisocial, it’s just that “social” for us is interacting in a different way than interactions done for the sake of forming connections, which is what reddit seems to be really pushing people to do. We can have those same discussions with anyone, anywhere.
I don’t know if that makes sense. 😂
Anyway, I’m using wefwef now and as a hardcore Apollo user, it feels like putting on a new pair of the same favorite shoes. It feels a little different, but once they’re broken in they feel just like the old ones.

Apollo. Everyone in my house did. Two have stopped using reddit entirely, I’m still checking on a couple of communities until their counterparts take off here. I’m using Dystopia there now because I’ll never, ever download their shitty app.
