Technology@lemmy.world•Louis Rossmann taunts Bambu Lab by hosting banned 3D Printer firmware fork, dares $1 billion company to sue him — more creators pledge support and boycotts, Snapmaker donates equipment to embattled deEnglish
9·3 days agoI bought my Bambu back when orca slicer and local network was out of the box supported. It was only a few months later that they locked out their firmware and started down this path.
I’ve been steadfastly refusing to update firmware. I hope to modify it someday but if not, I’ll just make sure it’s my last Bambu.

281·7 days agoIt’s an excellent word, means a timid, meek, or unassertive person. I love it since it sounds like exactly what it is “”milktoast” sounds boring, unappealing, and bland, just like milquetoast people… it’s an effective synonym regardless if intended or not :)

2·11 days agoI’m m an Infrastructure architect and engineer, this is the same problem in enterprise. Cloud, SaaS, proprietary vendors, they all want to lock you. Time and place for all of it, but you’ve gotta know what you are getting yourself into.
What chance does the average, non-30 year veteran of industry have? It’s bad out there.

3·11 days agoNah, wasn’t “we” , it was “them” who sold us on a promise, but was really a leash, or muzzle. The “them” is the oligarchs, the billionaires, the epstein class…

1·11 days agoOh, I know, ai was trying to point out the insanity in a few words as possible. All the solutions and conveniences we are being sold are bullshit. They are sold as helpful but just make you hate the world.
I had an Apple Watch, the simplicity of not having to take out my phone was the draw, I could see my notifications quickly and easily. All it did though was create more distraction, more digital cruft to wade through and dismiss. I get more value out of the rubber band that I have on my wrist right now than I did the Apple Watch.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Starbucks CEO defends a cup of coffee costing $9English
9·14 days agoMy coffee experience is fine thank you. Every morning I boil the kettle, hand crank the grinder while it’s heating. Combine in the French press, wait a minute, stir, wait 4-5 more, press and pour into my mug.
It’s a great morning routine, less than 10 minutes, cheap and results in a great cup. I have no interest in the coffee flavored milkshakes they serve so why would I ever set foot in a coffee shop?

14·18 days agoI have an 86 45 shirt I used to wear during the first term. When the comey bullshit first hit the news, my father called me and told me how I shouldn’t wear violent messages, told me that I’d better watch my back if I wore something like that again. I hung up and ordered an 86 47 shirt. Wearing it today in fact.

16·25 days agoWith how fucking slow windows has gotten on my work PC with all the copilot bullshit, I’m pretty sure MS is doing the same thing. No proof, just a painfully slow machine after getting all the AI updates…
I hate having that machine in my house, on my network.
