Is POV (the PBS series) not a nationwide, PBS produced program rather than an individual station program? The Atlantic article mentioned at the end talks about POV having a trans gamer themed episode canceled because of potential backlash.
The Atlantic article indicates PBS executives were involved with the decision and removed it from PBS.org, which an affiliate station presumably couldn’t do.
Anyone who thinks the inclusion of trans people in public life is a battle worth laying down can kiss my trans ass. I’m not a bank, my donations are drawn from a limited well, and I’m perfectly fine with moving that money to a trans focused cause instead.
PBS is being threatened as a whole, and not just because they’re inclusive, but because they are an entity for the public benefit, and the current assholes at large hate that sort of thing. I sincerely doubt they want to do this, but if there’s any hope of them continuing their mission, how do you propose they handle it? I’m really not trying to be a dick here, and it’s horseshit that we’re at this point as a society, but I can see where they’re at.
God dammit, PBS, right before pride month? They already took your fucking money. Why should my trans ass be donating to make up for it?
Wasn’t PBS, it was WNET. An affiliate.
An affiliate who has done shitty things before, like bend the knee to the Koch brothers.

Even if the content was produced by PBS, it was the affiliate that blocked it from airing.

Better to lay down one battle to keep fighting a war.

It wasn’t PBS broadly, it was a specific affiliate station in New York.
