I wish I could just like skip ahead to where the fediverse is huge. Like where every post has lots of discussion and comments and each community has lots of posts and engagement. I know it will take time and the growth won’t happen overnight though
I just hope a lot of the bigger instances can do something to withstand the massive hit they’re going to take from the user influx. I’ve heard some users have to wait ages to post on them, then you have folks like me on our own instances not able to see swathes of comments because federation is backed up.
I really like this platform, but those issues will turn a lot of people off.
Another thing I like to think of that’s tangentially related, is the “federation” of apartment buildings and houses (in some cases) where they grow their own food, have their own Lemmy instance and produce their own power. The return of a very real sense of community.

happening on 1st July, when all third-party app shut and layman redditors start to care
If a few months when hard monetization measures take place more people will move.
Reddit wants to close 3rd party apps because they get in the way of their monetization program.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing “paid only” posts over reddit, like in quora.
This will be the day. Hopefully we can get the Lemmy apps a bit more done by then. I’ve heard some reddit app devs will start working on Lemmy apps.

We can get there!
