A person can only drink about 3L of liquid per day.
So unless each beer was 100ml -> less than a standard beer can, this bullshit on the physics alone. And everyone here claiming “30 is totally doable, and then some” while ignoring the sheer volume is making themselves look like an idiot. And that’s before you consider the effect of the beers from 6am being long gone by the time you’re drinking your 12pm beer. Maybe if you’re drinking teeny tiny beers…
They said he gambled “all day”, so if he started drinking around noon and entered the flamingo enclosure at 5am, I’d say 30-40 beers is possible. You would certainly be absolutely shitfaced though, even with tolerance.
Most American beers tend to be weak, usually under 6% ABV (especially macrobrews, which rarely go above that and usually hover around 4%).
Drinking a 30 pack of a macro is easily doable if you don’t eat anything all day, especially if you’re not pairing it with liquor. An experienced drinker could literally drink American macrobrews all day long and maintain a steady buzz without getting drunk. For me, personally, I can’t get drunk off of beer alone unless it’s above 8-10% ABV. I do 2-4 shots and chase them with 2-3 beers tops. Liquor is just so much stronger here than beer that I don’t need more than that.
4% is the lower end even for macrobrews. Budlight is the lighetest mass produced brew and that’s ~4.2%, but the standard set you’ll find at most generic bars (corona / budweiser / blue moon / lagunitas) at 4.5% / 5% / 5.4% / 6.2% and there are some common brands in the 8%+ range. It’s a weird narrative that American beers are all light, it’s like people think we ONLY drink bud light when in reality the majority of beer drank by Americans are non-light.
Once you get into the 10%+ range you’re not really drinking a “chill and watch the game” type drink anyways. And as you conclude, there are more efficient ways to get there than drinking a 14% lagar.
It takes a hell of a lot to die from alcohol poisoning
It’s actually quite difficult to do, and impossible with beer because you’d have to consume such a huge volume of liquid that you would be vomiting it up before it could be absorbed into your blood stream
30 beers is bullshit. He would have died of alcohol poisoning.

Clearly you’ve never been an active alcoholic.
Alcoholics can get alcohol poisoning.
Nonsense! I’ll prove it!
