The non-monarch told U.S. troops stationed in Japan Tuesday that he was prepared to send “more than the National Guard” to American cities to safeguard and enforce his immigration agenda—a threat that could apparently involve any branch of America’s armed forces.

Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on his way to South Korea hours later, Trump clarified that he would do whatever is “necessary” to tackle crime, even if that meant ordering the U.S. military onto American soil.

“I would do that if it was necessary, if it was necessary I’d do that, but it hasn’t been necessary,” Trump said on the plane. “We’re doing a great job without that—is necessary. As you know, I’m allowed to do that.

“And I’d be allowed to do whatever I want, but we haven’t chosen to do that,” he continued. “And the courts wouldn’t get involved. Nobody would get involved. And I can send the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines. I can send anybody I wanted.”

The president is typically prohibited from leveraging the U.S. military for domestic law enforcement purposes under the Posse Comitatus Act, though one law stands as the major exception to that rule. Trump could use troops to handle domestic issues if he invoked the Insurrection Act, but doing so would require a state of emergency.

The legal loophole has been used by 17 presidents but has not been invoked since 1992, when President George H.W. Bush used it to subdue riots in Los Angeles after the local police force brutalized Rodney King.

What a child. “How dare you not know what to do! “ “ okay what should we do?” “I won’t tell you! (Because I have no idea myself!) but you’re still wrong for not knowing so I’m going to talk down to you anyway!!! Arghhh”

I’m Canadian, sort your own problems out. Yes, call me a child because I didn’t elect one into the highest office of my country. The lessons are there for anyone to see, you just can’t be bothered to get off your couch or get out of your comfort zone until there is no comfort zone to go to. Rise up!

I vote, I’ve been protesting, I agree on a general strike, I try talking to republicans, I volunteer in my community, I increasingly boycott big corps, I work a job caring for my community, I travel to help educate myself on the rest of the world.

Just because “getting off my ass” isn’t visible to you doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.

Yes you’re a child and a shitty neighbor- but it’s okay because I know not all Canadians are like you.

The best part is you think it’s all about you. A statement is made, and y’all take it personally. I appreciate you are doing ‘something’ but it’s not working. An American calling anyone a shitty neighbour right now is just a classic “good one”. Stop threating the sovereignty of my nation and maybe I’ll show a little more sympathy.

You’re so personally defensive when it’s clearly obvious the majority of America doesn’t even seem aware this is happening. Be mad at your American neighbors with their heads in the sand and up their asses, not with foreigners that are rightfully disgusted at America’s overall apathy toward its own destruction. Every Canadian has every reason to think we’re trash people because we keep showing them we are. It’s like, fucking congratulations, you personally aren’t part of the problem? You want a fucking cookie? America and Americans are still fucked and the goddamn least we can do is tolerate justified shit from countries we’re fucking. Get off Canada bros ass and get your head out of yours, be mad at the people that deserve it.

I’m tired of people bitching that we aren’t doing enough, while giving no advice on what we could be doing. It’s just not helpful for anyone and terribly negative, period.

Yes, everyone can be mad that America sucks, but it’s unreasonable being nasty to people who hate all of this, did nothing to deserve it, and are actively trying to make a positive difference.

”you want a fucking cookie? Get off Canada bros ass and get your head out of yours”

            • I want you to get off your high horse and stop accusing others of your own shortcomings.

”be mad at the people that deserve it”

            • That’s exactly my point

Folks who are not members of a privileged ruling class have no real say about what their leadership does with the military regardless of the illusion of choice they’re given on election day. The idea that average, working class Americans are responsible for national guard troop deployments in US cities for stated political purposes can only come from a privileged person who has the kind of power and control to do anything to affect the situation. I know that’s not me.

If anyone wants a suggestion for something they can personally do to help America’s national situation, go to the food bank and move boxes around, and if you’ve got enough money to do it, go to the local megamart and buy all the clearance and donate it. Food stamps are gone starting Monday.

If we gave you the advice you need, we’d be flagged for inciting violence. That’s what is needed. Actual push back. Organize, deploy, resist. There is your advice. It’s gonna hurt, but so does starving to death. So does forced labour. Join forces now, before it’s too late. We ain’t coming to save you “bro”.

                • I didn’t call you bro.
                • I didn’t ask you to save me or my country, it was clear from the start you weren’t one to offer a helping hand.

Of course that’s what you suggest. You can’t even say it here because you’ll be “fagged”, so how far do you think anyone would actually get before Trump declares martial law? Don’t you understand that’s exactly what this administration wants? They already label inflatable costumes as “terrorist”

You didn’t suggest this before, because you know it’s not a viable option. Tell me, would you be taking up arms if this was your country? At what point do you decide to cross that line and take another’s life? We aren’t soldiers, you would very quickly be shot before you made any real difference, and then watch how fast your party is really labeled a terrorist organization.
